“Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us…” HG Wells, The War of the Worlds
First Contact is a roleplaying game that allows you to live intense adventures in a near future where humanity is visited by a hostile alien race.
Contribute any amount you want. If we hit our goal, you’ll get the reward that goes with your level of contribution. PDFs will be made available first by mail before the book goes to printing. If we have contributions beyond our target number, we’ve planned many added rewards for contributors.
To thank you for your great support and in celebration of the X-mas holidays, we decided to offer every backer, including Survivor and Army volunteer bundles, the pdf version of the full color soft screen plus the physical copy to all Taccom Soldier, Taccom Officer, Stratcom Officer and Ghost Wolf Officer Bundles.
As we’ve entered into the final week of our campaign, we’ve decided to create a list of add-ons that may well evolve depending on the stretch goals unlocked these last few days.
A very important point though: the physical add-ons can only be taken by backers who have pledged at a printed book Reward Tier.
They won’t be charged any extra shipping fees though as they’re already covered in their initial pledge Reward Tier.
Here is what you can add to your pledge:

20 character sheets: €5 (approx. $5.45/£3.70)

First Contact is a tabletop roleplaying game that allows you to live intense adventures in a near future where humanity is visited by a hostile alien race. Play a member of X-Corps, the men and women who are part of Global Defence, the organisation set up to fight the Chandra threat, or live through dangerous adventures as a normal everyday person in a crumbling world.
This RPG is your passport to a dangerous future. A future where an advanced alien race - called “Chandra” by the humans - have arrived on Earth full of hostile intent.
This is not a large scale invasion, at least not at first, but only a succession of apparently random attacks. Any attempt at negotiation or communication is useless; there is only one way out, war.
Humanity, in a great joined effort, has created a multinational military organisation in charge of facing the Chandra threat: Global Defence. Early on, this organisation is hampered by the political interests of its different member nations and it faces not-entirely-undeserved accusations that it spends more time and uses more operatives defending the countries than contributing to the cause financially. Global Defence is an organisation which is trying to defend humanity, a species who still need to learn to put aside its differences if it wants to survive.
Meanwhile, all across the globe, people lives in a perpetual state of alert, attempting to get on with their daily life without knowing when war is going to invade their lives. Abductions and attacks on populations are increasing. Nobody is safe; chaos and anarchy have made some regions ungovernable.
In this book you’ll find a detailed setting that will allow you to play an endless number of adventures; all you need are a few friends, some pencils and paper, and a handful of six-sided dice, like those used in most tabletop games.
This 300+ estimated-page-long, full color book is divided into three parts, with increasing levels of restricted information. The third part, “Restricted Area”, contains all the information and the truth on the aliens, their possible intentions and their stats. Do not read this part unless you intend to be the Game Director, as that will spoil plenty of the surprises you may discover during the game.
If you enjoy using miniatures during your game sessions, we’ll also add battlemaps with a poster on the other side:
Although most of the book to details the Global Defence organisation and its struggle against the aliens, your games need not be limited to that! You can play many kinds of different stories in any areas of the setting. Your adventures might go from fighting the global conspiracy that is trying to hide the discovery of the asteroid to games of political struggles for resources, or government espionage. Or you can also play civilians resisting an alien occupation or having to survive the chaos caused by the arrival of the Chandra.
A world at war in three parts
The first part of the book, “Tomorrow”, covers the game system, character creation and all the usual information on the Chandra phenomenon available to the general public.
The second part of the book, “The Sword and Shield of Humanity”, includes information concerning Global Defence and its operatives, known as the X-Corps. Some personalities in the organisation are also detailed, as well as data on the Chandra that the general public doesn’t know about. If you are a player and not the Game Director, do not read this part, as you’ll enjoy discovering these pieces of information during your game.
The third part of the book, “Restricted Area”, is for the Game Director’eyes only. It includes all the actual background of the Chandra, their history, their motivations and a huge amount of secret information the players should not be privy to.
First Contact uses a modified version of OpenD6 – OGL game system. This system is very easy to handle and we provide two different ways to create your characters: by chosing an Archetype or by using our Step-by-Step Creation system.
Archetypes are pregenerated characters that represent examples of the most typical and common characters found in the setting. You can use them as they are, or customise them to your taste, with the Game Director’s permission. For that latter point, you should first get on with the Step-by-Step Creation system and thus respect the point balance of the archetype when making these modifications. If you don’t like any of the Archetypes, then you can also design your character with the Step-by-Step Creation system.
This section will help you to create a completely customised character for First Contact. You can use an archetype as a guideline or inspiration, or design your character from scratch. Next, we will describe each and every part that makes your character up.

The game created by José Manuel Palacios Rodrigo, was originally successfully published in Spanish, by Holocubierta ediciones, then in French by Le 7eme Cercle. A number of talented illustrators including Antonio J. Manzanedo, Jérôme Huguenin, David Lecossu, Borja Pindado, Christian Granero, David Lanza, Eloi Molas, Jorge Carrero, Sandra Callejas, Victor Bravo.and Simon Labrousse (cover) worked on the Corebook. Risks and challenges
We have been working as publishers for 15 years now. We have already created and published many roleplaying games, such as "Qin, the Warring states" (two ENnies awards),"Yggdrasill", "Keltia" translated in English. We run a publishing company and our online game store. We are familiar with shipping and publishing hurdles and we know how to solve them.
All the books and the GM screen are already translated and edited. They are ready for layout and some final proofreading. All the illustrations are already available, as they were for the Spanish and French editions.
The physical books, patches, "dogtags", and dice will only take a month to be produced because we'll print in Italy. We will be able to deliver the PDFs as soon as we send the files to our printer, which means after the layout is done and the book proofread one last time. Of course, we will give you regular updates on our progress every two weeks via this Kickstarter page and our website.
