Hi and thank you for reading the following words as they will surely come off better thank that video above.
Jason is the story of Jason Voorhees with ennui. The comic follows Jason day by day through a month of his life as he decides if he is going to stay in the horror game or retire to pursue other options. This is intended to be a five part series with this being the third chapter.
While Jason is the main focus of the comics we also get to spent a lot of time Freddy, Ghostface and Leatherface. Additionally we get to see Chucky, Micheal Myers, Pumpkinhead, Kevin Bacon and some zombies. My intention is to explore the world that Jason lives in as well as his struggle with the next phase of his life.
In Jason: Part 3 we get to see Jason go to the gym, hang out with Micheal Myers, answer some fan mail, and go on a shopping spree. I know, way to much fun for a 136pg comic. In all honesty though the comic is intended to be mainly funny while also at times indulging in general slasher fair as well as a side of thoughtful reflection.
I know that with the rise of the Marvel, DC and Star Wars cinematic universes the idea of the shared universe has become incredibly trendy but that was always the larger idea behind this comic. To have a world in which all these great slasher and horror characters could exist together and interact. It's just like being a kid in in a sandbox and creating adventures where G.I.Joe and Garfield go on an adventure to save my Cabbage Patch Doll from the evil Peter Venkman. Also, just so we are clear, I started working on this comics in 2010 before the shared universe became trendy so, just saying.
I have been self publishing mini-comics since 2010. Jason: Part 3 will be my ninth self-published comic and the second (if successful) funded through Kickstarter. I am used to working to deadlines and getting comics shipped out to customers in a timely fashion.
As of this point all of the inking and scanning for Jason: Part 3 is done. There is some clean up work left to do in PhotoShop and the layout work to be done in Indesign and with this being my third Jason comic the template is pretty set so the layout process should go rather quickly.
I hope to complete this work over the next thirty days so that I can get the pages sent off to the printer as soon as the Kickstarter is over so that I can get all of the rewards sent to me backers as soon as possible.
Failing all of that I will make a sacrifice to the gods of comics for guidance and assistance.
I look forward to your support.
Risks and challenges
I have had a lot of experience self-published and have a pretty good system down. I have also worked to have most of Jason: Part 3 completed before launching the Kickstarter in the hopes of ensuring a smooth process.
The biggest challenge will be the rewards, specifically the original drawings, but I have worked hard to make sure the rewards are fun as well as manageable.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
