'19' - Leadership Lessons I Would Tell My Younger Self
19 is the book where I am sharing the leadership lessons I have learned over 25+ years as a leader to my younger 19 year old self.
'19' has been 25+ years of leadership in the making. Who knew that when I was given my first leadership opportunity at age 19 I would still be leading all these years later.
The idea for this book came from a casual conversation with a friend. What we would tell our younger selves about being a leader? What should they be ready for on the leadership journey? What aspects of leadership had we learned along the way?
The book is a bunch of leadership thoughts with some reflective questions to prompt the reader to think about their own leadership journey and to help them stay on the journey for the next 25 years.
It represents my heart to help develop leaders and especially younger leaders to grasp what leadership is really about. After all, leadership is about more than a title. It is more about you as a person.
The book is nearly complete except for a couple of guest chapters. Once these are received and final edits made, I plan to send the manuscript to the publishers in early February 2017, to have the book ready by May/June 2017.
Every backer to this project is a pre-order of the book, which gets the project one step closer to becoming a reality.
Where The Money Goes
It turns out making a book costs a bunch of money. I need your help to pay for publishing, editing, design and layout, promoting, and getting this book into your hands and out in the world.
Here's the cost breakdown:
Publisher/Proof-reading/Design & Layout: £750
First Round of Books & Rewards: £850 (approx)
Kickstarter fees: £180
Additional monies will be needed for a new website providing a whole bunch of additional resource too. I will be covering this from my own resources.
Kickstarter is all or nothing—you won't be charged, and books and rewards won't be sent out unless we reach the full £1800 goal by 30th January 2017. I have invested countless hours already into this book, plus will add finance of my own to the work too. Thank you for choosing to invest with me and help in making this book a reality.
Risks and challenges
This is my first book. The biggest challenge is the writing but that is just about done except for a couple of guest chapters and some editorial amendments.
I am nervous about how successful it will be but I from the feedback so far, people are very positive which gives me confidence to see it published and to know that as a finished product it will really help a lot of people on their leadership journey.
With a successful campaign I will be able to send the manuscript to the publishers with the book being ready 4-5 months later, I am actually hopeful to launch it for sale on my birthday in May 2017.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
