Where we're going from here
It is pretty obvious that this Kickstarter likely won't pan out, and that's okay. We've gained knowledge running this Kickstarter than has no monetary value. While it would have been nice for us to make our goal and get a booster shot in the arm towards building the game that we want, we aren't going to let that stop us.
I think that statistically, we should have been able to make our goal based upon what we are offering as compared to previous Kickstarters, but it is impossible to predict what will resonate with the community. We have also taken a hard internal look at our progress so far, and we've begun to overhaul many game elements that we didn't feel were very fun.
In the coming months, we are going to be offering a preorder option for the game for those who want to support us before the game is released. Additionally, I'd like to thank the infamous IndieGamerChick for putting us in contact with WallyHawk, an amazing t-shirt company who is going to help us get a store front setup. Those pricing details will be revealed very soon.
To follow up the Kickstarter, we are planning to put up a full postmortem of our experience using this service. If anything, maybe we can help out someone else who is on the verge of starting their own crowdfunding adventure.
Finally, thanks to everyone who has supported us, by backing us or by giving us feedback. We've gotten a ton of feedback and an enormous amount of love from the social outlets that we participate in. Tales of Descent has a long way to go, and we can't wait to get it where it needs to go so that we can give the community a fun action adventure dungeon crawler.
Just to give a slice of things to come, we wanted to show off some of the new art for the game. This is now our third or fourth art revision, and it seems to get a little better each time.
