STRETCH GOAL #2 ACHIEVED!
NEW VIDEO AVAILABLE TO WATCH!
So... that was quick! It took just 36 hours from the announcement of Stretch Goal #2 before we had reached a milestone we once thought was unattainable.
"Thank you" doesn't seem to do it justice. There's no a way to express these emotions and the amount of gratitude we feel.
You have all made the impossible possible.
STRECH GOAL #2 HAS BEEN ACHIEVED!
To show our appreciation, we carried the momentum of this fundraiser out to the streets of Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, to see how the masses are reacting to The Daffy! (SPOILER: People like to lie on camera!)
We have entered new territory of fundraising that allows us to create the absolute highest quality version of this film, one that we never even dreamt possible! This next goal could open the door to potential distribution platforms like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and the international film market by allowing us to upscale our footage to the requisite 4K Ultra HD final output and much more.
We are overwhelmed by all the love and support thus far - let’s keep this train rolling! Thank you!
- The Daffy family
THE DAFFY is a feature film shot on The Western Slope of Colorado in December of 2017. Now months into the post-production process, we are seeking funds for finishing costs to enhance and complete our vision for the project.
"The synopsis you briefly skim"
Over a romantic Christmas weekend, a young couple retreats to a secluded cabin in the Colorado Rockies. Paul plans to propose, while Gena hopes to take their celibate relationship to the “next level.”
When personal beliefs and expectations clash, the two set aside their prior notions and agree to a completely honest, no-holds-barred weekend of “Truth or Dare,” sans the dare.
As their relationship is tested by manifestations of their buried pasts, the two are forced to ultimately confront each other and the truth within themselves. How much can you ever truly give to someone else?
"How'd we make this thing?"
We wrangled a crew of 20 filmmakers from around the country and brought them to a remote mountain cabin in Colorado.
After prepping for six long and difficult months, we hit the road in a rickety van with all of our gear and a single mission: to officially jumpstart our filmmaking careers by making something on our own terms.
Physical production consisted of arduous days and nights, but we managed to capture everything we set out to accomplish, knocking out 88 pages in 10 shoot days thanks to our unbelievably talented and dedicated team.
We became a tight-knit family during the process, and now we want to invite you to share in this unique experience with us as we turn this project into a product we can all be proud of!
"Why you won't hate it"
With this project, we want to make a movie that’s appropriate for our time.
- The Daffy is about two people with decidedly different points of view, trying to reconcile and find a way to understand each other, as well as themselves.
- We examine the nature of relationships between modern young adults as they navigate differences regarding their spirituality, expectations, personal philosophies, and the importance of communication.
- The conflict of our central characters echoes the current American cultural climate. How much does fear of judgment impact a person’s desire to voice their true thoughts?
- This film is a dramedy similar in tone to classic American independent films, such as Before Sunrise, The One I Love, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
- Mostly, we want to explore the ways in which we as humans protect, confront, and reveal our vulnerabilities and innermost fears in the presence of someone we love.
"Can I stop reading now?"
Almost, just hang tight.
Currently, we are approaching the end of the initial phase of the post-production process as we finalize our first official “Rough Cut.”
From there, we’ll refine the edit into a “Picture Locked” cut. This is where things start to get expensive…
“What are we going to do with your money?”
In the next phase of post-production, we’ll have to tackle...
- Color correction
- Music licensing and composition
- Automated dialogue replacement
- Sound design and mixing
- Titles and graphics
- Special effects
- Rights and clearances
- Miscellaneous maintenance costs
- Creation of deliverables
...all of which will require the work of paid professionals before the film will be ready for release.

“We already said all of this, but we are legally obligated to state this once more per our entertainment lawyer, Peter Paramount, Esq.”
As you can see, this isn’t your average kickstarter. We don’t need your help getting off the ground, we need your help landing.
This crowdfunding effort is purely to help cover the finishing costs for completing the film. We are profoundly confident in the footage that we’ve already shot, and we need one final push to make this film the best it can possibly be.
Thank you for your consideration!

Risks and challenges
Seriously, you're still reading this? Thanks, mom!
The risks and challenges for this project are wholly unique. Unlike many crowdfunding film campaigns, our movie is already shot, which means there are none of the risks and unpredictable factors typically associated with the production of a movie.
There are no risks for the project's fulfillment of completion. We've already shot the film, and the footage we have looks and sounds great.
So with that being said, there is a bit more certainty baked into this project than others you may come across. Of course, that doesn't mean we won't be facing our own sets of obstacles.
There are numerous complexities when it comes to pushing this movie through the necessary channels to reach our goals, specifically the independent film distribution market. For a film of this level to become financially successful, many things have to go right. But regardless of what happens in distribution, the final product - a feature length film - will be created. Your donations will give the movie the best possible chance to find a distribution partner.
This campaign will require a strong base and a grassroots effort to attain success, which makes it a perfect model to launch on Kickstarter. This film was a team effort on set, and will be a team effort in the execution of the final product up to its official release.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
