About

Live Gameplay Video 1

Hi everyone! I have been a gamer all my life and it is with great pleasure that I'm sharing my first game on Kickstarter. My goal is to invest the money pledged to make the biggest order possible of my game to my printer. This way, I'll be able to make a higher profit margin when selling this game to consumers and self-finance other future printing of that game with that profit if needed.

This is why I need the support and help of Kickstarter to make that project possible on a larger scale.

This game has been created around the idea of playing a hockey game with cards. You won't feel exhausted after a game of Hat Trick but you will need to work with your team and use your best assets wisely like you would in a real hockey game.

The goal of the game is to score 3 points by acquiring Puck cards. The first team to acquire 3 Puck cards wins the game. Note that the amount of points needed to win can be determined by the players at the beginning of the game.

Basic Rules:

- 4 player game. (2 vs 2)

- Each player starts with 2 cards at the beginning of the game.

- Players can only play one card each turn. Players have to either discard a card from their hand or place one card into play.

- If a player begins his turn with one card in his hands, that player must draw a card from the deck.

Puck Card Rules

- Each player can place no more than one Puck card in front of them at a time.

- If a Puck is blocked, put that Puck card and all cards surrounding that Puck card out of the game.

- If a Puck card scores, the owner of that Puck card keeps the Puck card beside him and put all cards surrounding that Puck card out of the game.

- A player can place a Puck card in front of another teammate if that teammate doesn’t already have one in front of him.

Forward / Defense Card Rules

- Players can only play Forward cards on their own or their team’s Puck card.

- Players can only place a Defense cards on the opponents’ Puck card.

- Players can play Forward or Defense cards to create a consecutive sequence only.

- A sequence of 3 consecutive Forward cards under a Puck card scores one point to the team owner of that Puck card.

- A sequence of 2 consecutive Defense cards blocks the Puck card.

- Numbers attached to Forward and Defense cards are from 1 to 6. Using a Defense 6 card, Players can complete a consecutive sequence by placing a Defense 1 card to complete the loop and block the Puck card. Same rule is applied for Forward cards. (Placing a Forward 6-1-2 cards on a Puck scores a point.)

Special Card Rules

 - Star powered Forward/Defense card: Can be any number from 1 to 6.

 - Goalie Card: Remove one Puck card and all cards surrounding that Puck card from play.

 - Turnover Card: Take control of any Puck in play. Puck card cannot be acquired if player is already in procession of a Puck card. Cards surrounding that Puck card stay in play around that same Puck card.

- Penalty Card: Remove one Forward or Defense card from play.

My goal is to order at least 100 decks of my game with the help of backers. If I order at least 100 decks of cards from my printer, the 30$ pledge will be divided like so:

- Custom of cards: 4.50$
- Custom Card box: 1.00$
- Shipping of cards to me: 0.62$ per deck
- Printed rules on paper: 1$
- Envelope: 1.00$
- Kickstarter fee: 5%
- Additional deck of cards for sale purposes: 15%
- International shipping to backers: 10.00$

Total of 23.00$ per decks

The 23$ pledge includes the game in a standard custom card deck. I didn’t want to invest in a special box that would hold the deck of cards and the printed rules because the cost of the pledge would have to be increased by a lot without adding any value to the final product. I also wanted that pledge level to be affordable for anyone. Like I said above, the rules will be printed in color on a simple piece of paper to reduce cost. PDF format of the rules will be available on the Kickstarter page with video tutorials on how to play the game.

The amount needed of the Kickstarter is 4000$. 3000$/23 = 130 deck of cards needed from backers. 1000$ has been dedicated to distribute a digital version of the game or simple pledges. I wanted to aim for a order of at least 100 deck of cards because my game printer requires such a order to also order a custom playing card box with the deck of cards.

For each pledges of 23$, 15% of that amount (3.45$) will be used to purchase another deck of cards for selling purposes to consumers in the future. Note that the money for the other pledge level will be used that way. PDF format of the Game and Rules will be sent to the backers that pledged 15$ to get the digital version of the game.

Risks and challenges

This is my first time asking for support on Kickstarter so everything is new to me but I'm well prepared to face any risk regarding this project. I have already request a sample deck of my game to the company that will print the final product for this Kickstarter. Everything came in order by mail without any problems and within a reasonable time.

Large orders mean longer time to process before receiving the final product. Once received, I'll have to manually ship the game to all backers that pledged on the 23$ level which might take few weeks to process depending on how big is the order and how many people pledged the 23$ mark.

Design is already done and ready for print and the game has been balanced and tested during some playtests. I believe that Hat Trick is a really fun game and that you are going to enjoy that game as much as me. Thanks for the help and for the support ! :)
