Pressy News Report

We interrupt your Saturday barbecue to congratulate Viber, the Israeli Voice-Over-IP App that was sold in a sum equivalent to about 40 million Pressys... now that’s a LOT of Pressys!

24 Million Pressys
24 Million Pressys

We take this opportunity to announce that Viber will be our partner that will help us bring the Pressy-to-talk feature to life

We have already started working on this feature, and we hope the big buyout will not affect Viber’s long term plans implementing it ( Viber – that’s a hint ;) ).

Stay tuned on FacebeookTwitter, Google+ and Instagram for more reports!

Status update, please. It is now in the later part of May. Thanks!

    2. E. Houde on April 13, 2014

We're now a month past anticipated delivery (which is never met by hardware products so I'm not worried) and it would nice to get a status update.

    3. Scott Bergman on April 13, 2014

It is now Mid-April. When do you think we will receive the Pressy orders?

    4. Jacob Briggs on April 12, 2014

Would love to see an update guys, its been a while :)

    5. Louis Tan on April 12, 2014

I can see you Pressy is getting alot of bad comments and feedbacks. Since Pressy last updates on 16 has been very quiet till mid April.
Hi Pressy guys, how long more are you going to delay this project? Come on, say something and lied to all of us you are working hard even if you are facing some difficulties.

    6. joseph bell on April 11, 2014

It has been so long I forgot about this project... any update guys?

      Update. Like soon.

    9. Jason Vail on April 8, 2014

Last update that I received is Feb 15th... What's the deal?

It's a bad situation when knock offs are threatening to beat you to market and making your backers feel like chumps. I'm happy to support an innovator, but let me be part of the process or at least aware that the process is proceeding. Even if it's "Hey stay tuned for some exciting news! Loves ya, Nimrod"

    10. Mark Lipsy on April 8, 2014

Please update us - good or bad.

@Espen McKay Lindseth. I love the standard "you're not investors, you are backers" that so many KS projects get. So you're saying that they will be fine without the backers' money then? Then why provide the company with our cash for their product? In a sense, we're all investing in their company. Maybe not as the "traditional" way, but by infusing cash into their company. People are just asking for an update. With almost 2 months without an update, I say they're justified to ask for one. Yes, they informed of the new shipping dates back in 2/10, but again, an update even to just say "things are on schedule for mid-April shipments" and nothing else, would be welcome by all backers. Am I anxious for an update, not at all, because after all it's just a $20 pledge. However, on principle, there should be some sort of at least monthly update.

    12. Brian Beam on April 7, 2014

How hard is it to throw us a bone? We deserve an update. No matter what the news is, good or bad.

    13. Euwing Tham Tatt Wah on April 7, 2014

      This project is sad.

    14. Espen McKay Lindseth on April 7, 2014

To those who are whining so much. You are not investors, you are backers. This is not a webshop so how much money they got dont speed up the delivery.
Yes the lack of updates is not good, but we know when they said they will ship so keep your calm until then.

    15. Chris Flowers on April 6, 2014

I find your lack of update disturbing.

C'mon this is a terrible way to treat those who funded you.

    16. John N Wood on April 6, 2014

An update would not be unwelcome at this time please.

    17. Cory Hulsey on April 5, 2014

Seriously, we need an update on what's going on. No updates for over a month makes for very angry investor, especially your early supporters. I realize things happen and things get delayed, but keep your supporters up to date on what's going on please. We want to know what's going on and if they will ever get into our hands. You've left us in the dark for almost a month

    18. @AddyNuf on April 4, 2014

Yep, update please guys. Even bad news is better than no news.

    19. Kyle Norton on April 4, 2014

Just to throw in my 2 cents regarding the Chinese knock-offs ... this is a common problem when American companies use Chinese production facilities. They will take the design and find ways to cut costs (lower quality/inferior product), rush it to market, and then sell it at a substantially reduced cost. Extremely high volume/low profit per unit business model ... y'all remember the stories a few months back about Chinese knock off iPhone chargers catching on fire right? Well there ya go; this is why I never buy Chinese knock offs.

This is actually an epidemic among Chinese manufacturers. I have a professor who designs custom jewelry as a hobby. Some of his designs really took off, so he reached out to a Chinese company to mass produce the high-demand pieces. They did ... but a short time later his custom designs started popping up for sale by brand new companies he had never heard of that were owned/operated in China. They had stolen his designs and were selling them as their own original work, going so far as to make up BS stories about the "starving Chinese artist" who designed them for this company, etc.

The problem is that there was very little (aka "virtually nothing") he could realistically do to legally stop them. It was too costly and too difficult of a legal battle to justify, so he just had to chalk it up to a life experience and move on ... and never use Chinese production facilities ever again.

This prof also told me something interesting I had never heard before, that Intellectual Property and IP law are completely foreign ideas/concepts in the Chinese culture. So much so that they don't even have a proper word/phrase in the Chinese language for "copyright infringement".

...I wouldn't worry too much about the Chinese knockoffs; I have no doubt they're inferior.

P.S. ...I too would love to get a current update on how the project is going :)

I second Sujay's request for an update. Thanks.

    24. Sujay Vilash on April 1, 2014

      Hi Pressy Team

Can we please have an update on what is happening? Your last update was 26th of February which is quite a long time ago. Are we still on track for mid-April delivery? What about the international deliveries?

    25. Scott Bergman on April 1, 2014

Freddy Lao-I am sure that it is from the same location that Pressy hired to manufacture their devise. I bet it is not as good because it may not compare to Pressy's programming. If it only $ 1, I am sure you will get what you buy. Please buy one and let everyone know how it compares to the Pressy. I am sure that Pressy will look like the leader in it's capabilities vs. the Chinese counterpart.

Alternatives to the Pressy are starting to pop up for less than a dollar!!!

Wondering when we'll have these in hand since other companies are already getting them out and for a lot cheaper!

    27. Freddy Lao on March 29, 2014

Hi project team & every backers,

I am sure most of you cant read this as it is in Chinese.

well, the point is, Xiaomi company( Chinese mobile brand) had just announced sth 99% the same as Pressy, with just less than USD$1 !!! and you can buy it immediately!!!

what are you going to do Project Team? and how about other backers?

I was shocked and feeling sad when I read this news yesterday.
I thought Pressy was the Initiator of this kind, but the real world is not.

    28. Joey on March 26, 2014

So what's the latest? Oh, and is this compatible with a Moto G? Gosh. I hope so.

    29. Jim Morison on March 11, 2014

i just bought an iphone, hope the pressy team can bring pressy app to iphone soon!

    30. Kyle Norton on March 10, 2014

Woo hoo ... that's a cool feature! Can't wait to get my Pressy! :)

    31. John Kelly on March 2, 2014

No, John N Wood, Pressy is not owned by Viber. Pressy signed an agreement with Viber to add Pressy to Talk to the Pressy package. It was one of the stretch goals. You really should read the updates.

    32. Pete Donahoo on February 26, 2014

i don't get the viber thing...
viber is a nice app but sucks the battery like no tomorrow... i like the idea that it can be used with the viber app but if pressy is going to require viber to function i guess i am not quite as excited...

    33. John Yu on February 17, 2014

      Congrats! Exciting news

On a related note: I really hope Pressy can be integrated with WeChat [push-to-talk] voice messaging as well :) WeChat is HUGELY popular in Asia, and having a dedicated button would be a big leap in ease-of-use

30 days is nothing :) Take your time! I'm still waiting on my bloody Ironbuds going on 2 years now!

    35. R. Adams on February 16, 2014

So? Are you guys really that butthurt over a probable 30 day delay that you immediately start with the complaining? There are so many more projects that are a year off or just abandoned altogether. This isn't a 'pre-order' of an already finished product. Your funds were used in helping to develop something new. With most new development projects there are delays. As long as the team keeps open communication, there really shouldn't be a problem. As far as I see, Pressy has been regularly updating--with pictures--what they're working on. So you know they're doing something and they're trying to bring their idea to fruition. A minor delay should be expected. Once several months or a lack of updates start, then feel free to complain. Right now it just sounds like you guys expected some pre-ordered gadget from a store, and that's not what this is.

    36. Dapperbox on February 16, 2014

Excellent work Nimrod, Geva and the Pressy Team! We're very happy to hear of this news!

    37. John N Wood on February 16, 2014

So Pressy is owned by Fiber & Viber was bought by Rakuten, do I assume that Pressy is really owned by Rakuten. How does this affect we backers, if at all.

Still, gonna have the coolest add-on item for a phone. It's the anticipation factor, wanting to get our paws on Pressy. It's coming. Gimme, gimme, gimme. A couple of extra weeks sure isn't going to diminish the usability of the product.

@gary Everyone has a right to comment, if you don't want to read then don't. Wasting your time, seriously!

      @randa Delivery is now April.

    40. Gary Scherler on February 15, 2014

Tbe original shipping date wasn't even schemed before March! Everyone needs to read the updates Pressy sends out! They have given the reasons and the new expected shipping time frame already! You might want to read them before wasting your and my time complaining about shipping. Especially the last update!!! My thanks again to Pressy for providing updates so often and being so clear as to what is transpiring. :)

    41. Offbeatmammal on February 15, 2014

Love what's happening in the Israeli tech scene at the moment. And looking forward to the deliveries rolling (but as they weren't even estimated until next month I don't get why folks are stressed).
I was lucky enough to play with a Pressy at CES - super friendly guys on the booth, wish them every success - and it's very cool so really looking forward to getting my own to play with

    42. Daniel Gray on February 15, 2014

@Randa It's almost as if people don't bother to read updates. They have been very open and transparent about the issues they've had. I find it very refreshing and I'm happy to wait as long as it takes.

It's a reward for backing the project. It's like you've been on Amazon and ordered something.

    43. R. Adams on February 15, 2014

You guys complaining do realize the estimated deliver is for NEXT month, right?? It's barely the middle of February and you guys are already bitching about timelines?? Calm down.

    46. Scott Kahle on February 15, 2014

When exactly is my pressy being shipped out to me already? Hopefully before headphone jacks become obsolete.

    47. Bob Fraser on February 15, 2014

Hopefully you have a written agreement with Viber. The old maxim "A verbal contract isn't worth the paper it's printed on" easily applies when buyouts occur.

    48. corb06 on February 15, 2014

      Hello Pressy!

Please try to make pressy to work with Whatsapp voice notes. That would be awesome, even better if it works with Bluetooth headset mic.

So just hold pressy to send voice note via headset =) Just like a real com radio.
