Dear Friends in Brooklyn (Maeve & Co.), PA (Dan, I've heard about you), Portland (Sean and Ben), and Moscow, Idaho (too many)... and you new friends in Singapore (Alex and DJ's)!
Our Nathan Asher needs one part equipment, one part moral support to produce his new album. Good student that he is, he's doing his homework. Lucky for us, his diligent homework sounds like our dance parties.
He has produced these crazy mixes and released them on a relentless schedule (which has been tamed) and on equipment he had to beg, borrow, or steal. He needs:
- Ableton Live
- Midi Controller: $100
- 2x Tabletop Scratch MP3 / CD Player: $500
- Condenser Mic: $300
- Mixer: $100
- A Gamelan (an ancient Indonesian instrument) if we get enough pledges!
The idea? Pure selfishness! Let's hook him up with the equipment to work on his album (for him), and he'll give us his homework to make our audio landscape flow with milk and honey (for us). Let me explain. Chip in and he'll produce:
1. The monthly Bon Voyage Von Submarine podcast mix-tape, month by month for one year to bridge us from this summer to the next, with your name on it. A down payment at: Bon Voyage Von Submarine's Podcast. (Homework Part One: Research.)
2. Quarterly House Party with new music, to which you are invited. (Homework Part Two: Laboratory.)
3. His album. (Final Exam.)
Give the man some music, you'll dance him to the morning. Give the man the means, and he'll dance us through the Summer of 2013. To cap it off we're planning a two day party in Bandung, Indonesia to celebrate the year of mixes, and the quarterly parties, and to release his new album! Coming to a Summer 2013 Near You. Get a piggy bank, you've got a year to start saving.
Keep it hush, hush, 'til he keeps it loud. A kiss on you all!
