Eco Airplane: Tribrid Concept (Canceled)
Combing the best of gasoline, electric and wind power to create a new tribrid airplane. Around the world on one tank of gas.
To fly anywhere, any distance, around the world on a single tank of gas, this is our plan. Today current technology focuses on improving engine efficiency, lift body and lightweight materials. All of these are important improvements, but still miss the main point of eco design, being environmentally friendly. Airplanes are integral to our society. Thousands fly every day. By looking at airplanes from both a design and engineering approach we can create something new and great.
We are not looking to recreate the airplane, just rethink it. By combing the mature technologies of gasoline, electric batteries and wind turbines we can create a plane that can generate its own power during flight. This will allow for longer flights with little to no fuel use. It will be perfect for commercial use, mainly cargo and emergency services. Imagine a rescue plane that can stay airborne for 24 hours, over the middle of the ocean. Imagine a plane that can fly to any disaster area anywhere in the world and not worry about how to get there, where they will stop or refuel.
Changing the world is easy, it starts with a single small step, this is ours.
Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge will be to combine three different technologies together. It has been done in various ways before and with some time, effort and outside the box thinking it can work. For the project to achieve its long term goals of creating a working airplane, we will need to achieve various milestones.
