About this project

Two Shepherds Vineyards is a micro winery, making <700 cases a year of very small lots of wine, 25-100 cases. We are committed to making interesting unique wines that bring back the care and quality of the old word.

Bringing Back Wines of Nuance & Old World

A bottle of wine should present a story to its consumer: a story of that year in the vineyard. Since every year is unique, that bottle should present the distinct vintage in the glass, as no two vintages are alike. The artisanship and quality of wine is hindered by excessive manipulation, attempts to over-correct vineyard decisions and Mother Nature, as well as manual intervention to maximize every aspect of the wine.

Making wine this way simply costs more, in an industry that already is unforgiving to the little guy.

Making Our Famous Grenache Blanc Even Better

Our Grenache Blanc has been featured in several publication for its unique style including the San Francisco Chronicle " The Chronicle Recommends: Grenache Blanc" and the Press Democrat "Bucking the trends" with more publications to follow.

Making wine in concrete is a rejuvenation of an old world technique, and we feel would greatly compliment our style of textural based white wines.

We are starting small, with a 70 gallon vessel for the 2012 harvest which are already into, and cash strapped. If we go past the Kickstarter amount, funds will go to a second concrete barrel, or a larger one.

Your support, no matter what the size, will help us keep pushing the envelope of interesting wine making, delivered to consumers at approachable price - "a steal at $24" as Virginie Boone said in her article.

Thanks for supporting your a small passionate artisan.

Risks and challenges

.Risks here are limited, short of getting run over by a forklift, the winery burning down and all wine lost, or being kidnapped by aliens, the 2012 GB will hit the market.

With the large costs of harvest, delayed cash flow, and so many other items needed, we simply can not afford to add a piece of equipment past bare necessity. Your support and investment enables us to make better wine for you.
