FROM SAD PIGGIES, THE ORIGINS
Sad Piggies is a 2-4 person card game reminiscent of good ol’ “Monopoly Deal” – except, you collect piggy corpses instead of properties.
Players take turns to draw from a stack of cards such as the Tool Cards, to help you collect Pig Cards (piggy corpses), and Action Cards to steal piggy corpses from other players.
There are also cards that revive dead pigs, skip crucial turns, steal the precious Deny Action card – all of which are guaranteed to amuse (or annoy) your opponents to no end! Steal, kill or horde the pig cards. The one to reach the most pigs on hand first wins the game!

THE BACKSTORY SECTION
Thanks for taking the time to read about what we are trying to build. If you are interested, read on to find out more about the background of the game, game design and who we are as the creators of Sad Piggies.
WHO MADE SAD PIGGIES
Sad Piggies is a “Dawn and Ian” creation: two individuals with a sadistic sense of humor and a love for the macabre.
Ian has been creating his own e-commerce products for the past 5 years. He knows the ins and outs of managing product lines, getting customers to buy the goods and arrange shipping to be on time.
Dawn, the ever passionate game lover and designer, knows the difference between UX and UI of a product. As one of the rare UX/UI strategist that possesses both form and art, she was ever ready to get her hands dirty to design her own game.
Looking at their individual skillsets, they decided to team up like Superman and Wonder Woman. Or Batman and Batgirl. Like Bonnie and Clyde... you get the idea. Let's just call them Team DI, ok?
Sad Piggies began on a bleak day at work. Ian turned to his co-worker, Dawn, and began talking about how the office felt like pigs being sent to the slaughter and figured that it would be really cool if the pigs were able to finally take charge of their own deaths instead.
And so, the first seeds of their card game were sowed.
KILLING PIGS?! LIKE, SERIOUSLY?!
Right. That's why we kept them imaginary and it's a card game.
We don't advocate suicide or harming animals. We are exploring the idea of what if animals have the same consciousness as humans and what they would do in their situation to preserve their honor.
We can assure you that no pigs were harmed in the testing and making of this game.
We also tested various artworks and realised that by crafting a story around the circumstances of the piggy’s death, it becomes a lot more appealing to the folks out there. Death scenes are therefore left up to the player’s imaginations.
We designed many sets of prototype and tested with batches of players for months. One important aspect that we spent time building into the game is the interaction between players. This is a top design rule for us, as we want a game that is fun and engaging for everyone.
As we tested the game in batches, we improvised along the way, adding more action cards and changing the pig cards to increase player interaction within the game. Now we are confident we have a fast-paced, fun and entertaining game that brings out hours of laughter for our players.
HELP US BUILD THIS GAME
Why are we doing this when we aren't famous artists, extremely talented game designers or successful entrepreneurs?
We are creators first. We take pride, joy and satisfaction in taking a game concept and getting the world to have fun with it.
This is about you, our community of players. We put this project on Kickstarter because it's the fastest way for us to get the game into your hands and make improvements as a community. We had a vision that future improvements or expansions would be community driven. This game is great, but we need your help to make it even better. So please help us and let’s go on this game making journey together! –

Risks and challenges
Production of the game is simple: it's just a card game. It's a relatively straightforward product to make. We're already working with the same card maker that have worked on and fulfilled successful Kickstarter campaigns before. This is to make sure that no matter how many people pledge, everyone gets their Sad Piggies quickly after the campaign ends. Not to mention getting good quality game cards from a tried and tested company based in the US.
If you support this project, we want to be sure you are in Team Sad Piggies right away. As part of the Team, you get first-hand information on how the progress of the production and any new improvements and variations of the gameplay for life.
We're keeping our rewards as simple as possible: support our project and in return, we'll send you the playable game along with goodies that won’t complicate the shipping timeline.
