About this project
The PSS Chronicles is the acclaimed young adult paranormal thriller series written and self-published by award-winning author Ripley Patton.
Hey, thanks for checking out my Kickstarter. I really appreciate it.
You may have realized by now that this isn't my first rodeo. You see, I funded the publication of the first two books of my series, GHOST HAND and GHOST HOLD, on Kickstarter and now I'm back to publish the third book of the series, GHOST HEART.
STRETCH GOAL #1 - $3,000
In proper Kickstarter tradition and since we've made our initial goal, I'll be offering a SPECIAL STRETCH GOAL and REWARD. If we make the next benchmark of $3,000, I will give EVERY backer an MP3 audio reading of my short story "Sister of the Benevolent Gods," produced by Cossmass Infinities and read by the talented Stephanie Gallagher in the most amazing Scottish accent.
STRETCH GOAL #2 - $3,500
YOU UNVEILED THE GHOST HEART COVER!
If you're already a fan of The PSS Chronicles, you've come to the right place. Through this Kickstarter you can pre-order the e-book or a signed paperback (or both) by choosing the appropriate reward in the sidebar.
Becoming a backer will also help unveil the cover of GHOST HEART to the world RIGHT HERE on Kickstarter. I started by offering a first piece FREE. Just a corner. Just a tease. And with the project reaching it's FINAL GOAL already (with 8 days left), my wonderful backers have unveiled the rest for the world to see below. Isn't it a beauty?
In addition to all that, backers will have access to sneak peek content of GHOST HEART and insider information straight from the author. Most of all, you get the privilege of saying, "That book is mine. I helped make it a reality on Kickstarter."
NEW TO THE SERIES?
Never heard of The PSS Chronicles? Then you've seriously come to the right place. Here's what people are saying about it.
GHOST HAND was a semi-finalist for The Kindle Book Review Best Indie Book Awards 2013 and a Cybil Award Nominee.
And never fear, even though this Kickstarter is for the third book in the series, there are rewards that can nab you all three series books in e-book and paperback for an amazing price.
Still not convinced? Well, I'm so confident that you'll love the series once you've started it that I'm currently offering the first book, GHOST HAND, FREE for KINDLE and KOBO, and for only 99 cents on B&N.
If you do go grab it and you like it, I hope you'll come back here to show your support for GHOST HEART and the entire series.
WHAT'S THE SERIES ABOUT?
The PSS Chronicles is about small town girl, Olivia Black, born with a rare birth defect known as Psyche Sans Soma, or PSS. Instead of a right hand made of flesh and blood, Olivia has a hand made of ethereal energy which she refers to as her ghost hand.
The inspiration for PSS came from the real medical phenomenon of phantom limb syndrome in which amputees can still feel sensation in the appendages they no longer have. I decided to ask myself, "What if those limbs really existed? What would they do, and look like, and what power would they hold? And how would society react to the people who had them?"
Blurbs for GHOST HAND and GHOST HOLD can be read on my website HERE.
GHOST HEART: THE BLURB
In the aftermath of a brutal tragedy, Jason and Passion are on the run. Marcus is lost beyond reach, and The Hold is in shambles. If that weren't enough, Olivia Black has been taken by the CAMFers to be used as Dr. Fineman's personal lab rat in his merciless quest to uncover the mysteries of Psyche Sans Soma once and for all. But only if he can break her.
They are scattered. They are devastated. They are ruined.
Their only hope is Olivia's stubborn determination to thwart her captors and unlock the secrets of her ghost hand before Dr. Fineman can. Will she finally find the strength within herself to embrace the full power of her PSS.
And will it even matter if Marcus has already betrayed her?
GHOST HEART: THE COVER
The cover for GHOST HEART was professionally designed by the wonderful Scarlett Rugers and will be fully unveiled on this Kickstarter when the project reaches its funding goal. And it is going to blow you away. I promise.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Having done this before, I pretty much know where the money will go and here is a basic breakdown.
$500 for the professional book cover design
$700 for professional editing fees
$200 for print and e-book formatting
$800 for the first paperback print run
$300 for fees and shipping costs
Any extra funding will go toward the promotion of my books and investment into the future of the series.
And if the money REALLY flows, there will be stretch goals, of course.
WHAT IF YOU DON'T READ YA?
Even if you don't read or like Young Adult Fiction or the Paranormal Thriller Genre, I can guarantee you know or love someone who DOES. Every reward level of this project can be given as a gift to someone else. Just pledge the amount for the reward you'd like to gift, and when the surveys go out to collect your information, you can let me know it is a gift and who to send it to. I'd even be happy to write a special gift message for you as well.

All you have to do is click the BACK THIS PROJECT BUTTON at the top right of this page and pledge any amount over $1. Then choose your reward, follow the instructions to pay, and I'll keep you updated on the project every step of the way.
And if you can't pledge today, thanks for stopping by and giving me your time, and feel free to share the project with your friends.
SPECIAL THANKS - Special thanks to my son, Soren, for the amazing job he did on my video again and to my daughter, Valerie, for her brief appearance in it that never fails to make me laugh.
Risks and challenges
Having done this twice and delivered on time, I like to think I'm an old pro by now.
However, scheduling issues with editing, formatting, and print proofs can always crop up, but they are fairly easy to manage. I always keep my backers well up-to-date on all my adventures, especially the unpleasant ones.
I wouldn't worry too much.
