Who are we?
We are Fatsani Dogani and Tariro Mapuranga, co-founders of TaSanni. TaSanni is our dream child; we want to change the lives of artisan families through the creation of jobs and to also help shape the future of Africa's economy and we believe that fashion can play a major role.
In December 2013 we conceived the idea of launching a clothing line sourced from southern Africa. By designing in the USA but producing in Africa we want to use our passion for fashion as a model for alleviating poverty among hard working artisans in Africa’s fashion industry. Since our inception in 2014, we have created opportunities for 5 artisan families while providing a safe work environment; fair treatment; standard working hours and fair pay wages.
Our grand vision is to put African countries on the map as a major fashion manufacturing hubs. We presently work with independent tailors in Zimbabwe and Malawi to bring our design concepts to life. Our first collection was fully produced in Zimbabwe using locally sourced materials and labor and our collection below can be found at www.tasanni.com
Why do we need your help?
We recently participated in Fashion Week San Diego and placed second in the Top Designer award for our Spring 2016 collection. Our success has meant that we need to employ more tailors to produce our second collection in order to meet our production completion date of April 2016. The funds we raise through your contributions will help us employ 3 more tailors and fulfill our vision one design at a time. Enjoy watching our FWSD runway show:
We have been passionately working on this clothing line for the past 2 years. We acknowledge the path we have chosen in producing in Africa is not an easy one, but we are driven by our passionate desire to give back to a continent we call home. We have been putting in the sleepless hours and have been able to reach all the goals we have been setting for ourselves. Placing second in the Top Designer award in the midst of other talented designers is testament in itself. Help us grow this company to the empire we envision it becoming by pre-ordering one of our designs. Your support will help us bring opportunities to the talented artisans.
