About The Stunt Brothers
The Stunt Brothers is a line of quality wooden toys that are fun, thoughtfully designed, and teach kids simple principles of science.
Fun: We created the Stunt Brothers first and foremost to be fun. In our workaholic world, some people believe that play time is wasted time. We have a name for those people..."crazy." Research shows (and we intuitively know) that play time is important and that many social and cognitive benefits come from open-ended, imaginative play…and that's true for kids and adults.
Design: We are passionate about getting good design into kids hands--about surrounding them with items that use quality materials and have been thoughtfully designed. It's why we do what we do.
Science: We're a little math-nerdy around here and we think a stunt show is a great tool to help kids learn some simple science. That's why every Stunt Brothers toy will include a booklet, which describes a scientific principle and includes experiments that encourage kids to play with the concept.
A Little Background
A couple of years ago we began playing with the idea of rubber band powered toys. We explored a number of options but the idea we liked most was a simple cannon and figure set.
We also liked the concept of a Stunt Show, especially classic stunts. So we dove into retro stunts and classic vehicles and began to flesh out what eventually became The Stunt Brothers.
We originally worked with the name The Danger Brothers, but my wife (and some other moms) quickly put an end to that.
Say, What Ya Gonna Do With All That Money?
The money is going to pay for manufacturing the toys, packaging them and shipping them to us. We're able to cover everything through the prototype phase (we've had to make several), but we need some help to pay to produce them...oh and let's not forget the bumper stickers.
Here's our plan and timing to bring everything to market.
What If You Are Over-Funded?
We have BIG ideas for this line. We have more toys in development. We are also interested in making school supplies, like back packs, lunch boxes, etc. From there we would love to develop some content like short videos and/or simple video games. But that's down the road. If we get over-funded, we'll begin to finalize the toys in the pipeline, beginning with the car jump ramps.
Will They Be Safe?
Yup. All of our toys pass US and European Safety Standards. We use high-quality materials and our manufacturer agrees to abide by our Code of Ethics.
Why No "Stunt Sisters"?
It's all about the back story. The Stunt Brothers is the name of a fictional traveling stunt show that was started by two brothers. As they travel around they meet new people and some of these folks eventually join the show. The Parachutists are a brother-sister duo that have joined the show. In the future, we expect the line to be pretty balanced...despite the name.
Didn't You Try A Kickstarter Campaign Once Before?
Yup It didn't go so well. We didn't hit our goal (or anything approaching our goal). So, we launched the Parachutists on our own and we've tweaked the line to make it more focused and much better. Check out our first attempt...you'll see how far we've come.
That's about all we can think of. You probably have other questions. If so, you can contact us directly at email@example.com or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Risks and challenges
Our risk is the manufacturer. We are a small fish compared to the big companies they work with, so sometimes we fall behind in their priority list. That can cause delays, but we have padded our timeline a bit to give us some breathing room and because we will be funded upfront, we will be able to pay them a higher downpayment than others, so we think that will help raise our stature.
There is a concern about safety testing, but we've worked closely with manufacturers and testing companies and they ensure us that the toys will pass testing. We will also get assurances from the manufacturer that they will build something that will pass. if it doesn't, the manufacturer will have a big incentive to fix it quickly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
