Thanks for checking out our project! We highly recommend watching our video to get the best idea of what Brydge can do.
Is it just us, or does it feel like the options for iPad keyboards and accessories are excessive in quantity, yet lacking in quality? This is why we created Brydge.
This idea of adding a high quality hinging keyboard to your iPad seemed obvious to us and we were shocked when we could not find any accessory that accomplished this. So we set out to make such a product to perfectly compliment your iPad.
Brydge is an elegant solution to the lack of quality iPad keyboards and accessories currently on the market. Brydge connects to your iPad using a patent-pending hinge which allows for close to 180 degrees of iPad positioning and holds your iPad secure.
Watch our "Shake Test" to see how strongly Brydge's hinge holds your iPad
Brydge's aluminum body ismachined and anodized so that it matches the look and feel of the iPad precisely. When paired together Brydge and your iPad appear to be two parts of the same device, blending style and functionality seamlessly. Unlike other products made of painted plastic in an effort to look similar to the iPad, Brydge does not fake it. Not only does it look good, but when held in your hands you can feel the quality craftsmanship Apple lovers demand.
Watch our "Keyboard Comparison" video to see what sets Brydge apart
Brydge's patent-pending hinge holds the iPad secure and allows for close to 180 degrees of positioning. While many stands offer a non-adjustable ledge to lean your iPad up against, Brydge's hinge allows you to position your iPad at nearly any angle, even allowing you to close it up entirely for easy transportation. Once closed, both your iPad and Brydge go to sleep automatically.
Hinge made of metal alloys and magnets, with a thermoplastic elastomer shell
Brydge’s hinge combines the forces of friction and magnetism to hold strongly onto the iPad. There is no need to enclose your iPad in any sort of case, instead, your iPad snaps in and is ready to go. If you need your iPad free from Brydge, simple hold down on the Brydge and pull your iPad free.
Optional Stereo Speakers
Brydge connects with your iPad via bluetooth, so there is no need to deal with any wires or plugs. This was important aesthetically, but also adds to the portability and convenience of the product. Additionally, the keyboard has been designed specifically for an iPad, with iPad functions built in and charges through a USB connection.
Kickstarter is an amazing tool that has helped introduce you to our product so that we can raise this capital. We have come so far and have a clear plan to cross the finish line, but part of that plan relies on you. We have calculated that we need $90K in order to produce the product in bulk and bring it to market. If you're interested in seeing the Brydge being made and would like to receive one of the first editions please pledge.

Brydge is made from aerospace-grade aluminum that is machined and anodized to perfectly match the look and feel of an Apple iPad. The precision processes used to machine Brydge are the same processes used as the Apple family of products.
Brydge's hinge is made from metal alloys and magnets with a thermoplastic elastomer shell. It combines the forces of friction and magnetism to hold strongly onto the iPad. Once attached, the hinge provides for close to 180 degrees of iPad positioning. To remove your iPad simply hold the Brydge down and pull your iPad up firmly.
Brydge weighs 1.28 pounds by itself and 2.59 pounds when connected to an iPad 2. For comparison, the 13 inch MacBook Air weighs 2.96 pounds.
Brydge will work with iPad2 and iPad3, unfortunately we are not supporting the iPad 1. The back is curved in a way that differs from the current iPads and it makes it a heavy redesign to integrate with.
We are still sourcing speakers, but as of now we know there will be at least a 10 dB increase from the iPad's speakers.
Brydge automatically hibernates and turns on with your iPad, so there is no need to manually power it on and off. However, configuration buttons are built into the layout of the keyboard and a subtle power indicator LED is hidden off to the side.
Brydge has a lithium lion battery for long battery life and is easily charged via micro USB. Battery life varies significantly based on speaker use. Without speaker use, Brydge's battery should last several months.
Brydge is charged via micro USB. A subtle indicator light off to the side indicates power levels.
Yes, Brydge has a full QWERTY keyboard. The beveled edge was designed thin to provide the largest keyboard possible. Additionally, Brydge has hotkeys built in dedicated specifically for iPad functions.

We have experience with international shipping and many kickstarter projects will make the mistake of sending out rewards internationally via USPS First Class with no guaranteed delivery or tracking number. We want to ensure that no one's Brydge is lost in transit so we will be paying more for shipping to ensure delivery is made and confirmed.
Brydge supports an international toggle switch which will allow you to select different languages/keyboard styles as set through your iPad settings. We are looking into offering Brydge with different key prints particularly the QWERTZ layout. We have not finalized this yet. Stay tuned.
The iPad offers multiple languages, Brydge will work with all of them, but unlike the letters on the screen, the letters physically on the keyboard won't change.
