About this project
Help to bring the next installment in this time travel series to print!
I'm a long-time fiction writer, with little forays into publishing prior to this project. I work as a high school history teacher and it's been tough to balance work with my writing. A year ago, in December 2014, I wrote the entire first draft of Time Riven in a manic burst of creativity over only ten days. I had been churning over the concept for many years and then imagining the characters and plot arc during some of my train commutes. As I procrastinated on grading papers, the shape of Time Riven and the world of "safe" time travel emerged in my imagination. I took that first draft to a few of my students and they loved it. I made edits and rewrites so that by the time this fall arrived I was ready to put Time Riven out into the world. It's been great fun to have conversations with readers from all over -- as far away as Australia!
Check out Volume 1 on its Amazon page.
Now I'm over halfway done with the manuscript for the next volume in the series. I am going to finish the manuscript by the end of February, get it edited in March and publish in April. Having done all of this for the first book in the series, I have a good idea of how the costs add up. If I receive the funding for this project, I will first commission a book cover. That will help to build some buzz as the publishing goal of April 11th approaches. As I make progress, I'll keep my readers and supporters updated through my author blog, jonathaneseyfried.com.
Risks and challenges
Since I have completed the publishing of Time Riven (Volume 1), I have a good idea of what kinds of obstacles could lead me to miss my April 2016 deadline. I put a lot of energy into my work and if some kind of life crisis hits, then I will have to push back the completion date to July 2016. However, I have been very successful in the last 12 months at finding the time and emotional energy to write. I think I am in a nice productive groove, with 55,000 words of Time Fragility already written.
