Have a question?
No kit received to date?
We responded to you privately about your Meta 1 Developer Kit. They are on their way! Our apologies for the delay.
I didn't receive my kit yet !! I sent you messages one week ago and then sent a reminder !!! No response at all !!!! Can I have few minutes of your precious time
Kickstarter backers can sign up for the Meta Developer Center at spaceglasses.com/users/sign_up.
Once singed up, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your email used to sign up and kickstarter id.

Great to see the developer kits arriving. If you have any technical questions feel free to post them in the forums available on the Developer Center.
Just got notification that glasses have been delivered to my flat. This is the most excited that I have been about Christmas since getting the cardboard Death Star cut-out as a 7 year old.
Is there any trick to get SDK access as backer?
I'm not sure which are the "official" websites for Meta 1 (whether as a product or a development package), but most of what I've tried seems to be down..... I get unavailable pages when trying provided links on both meta-view.com and spaceglasses.com.
Is there some sort of quality/consistency problem with the web hosting provider being utilized? The web is the key communication tool for any business' model, so having a professional, rock-solid presence would seem to be a priority as shipments, availability, and hype ramp up around this effort.
Finally received the meta1 dev kit as an early backer. Looks like they started to ship.
I'm in the Early Bird Special: The meta 1 Developer Kit: as well but I live in Perth Australia, so hopefully mine is not too far away :-)
Just an FYI to fellow backers.... I'm in the Early Bird meta 1 developer kit tier and I received my package from meta today. I've yet to unbox due to some unfortunate plumbing issues that came about at home, but I'm looking forward to exploring things this weekend.
We posted an update a couple of days ago that should have gone to all of you. If you have not received the update or have any questions, please feel free to contact us at email@example.com. We will be happy to help and address any questions.
Thank you for your support.
The Meta Team
I echo Brad's comment below. I would prefer more frequent updates of less quality.
I appreciate it takes time and the photos of production are reassuring, our last update approx 13 weeks ago said - Quote "Our current schedule is to ship over the next 4-16 weeks as units come off our assembly line."
Are you still on target to meet this schedule?
Don't get your hopes up, I contacted them in April, August, and October 2014 and they gave the same promises. One of their "developer ambassadors" also gave a false guarantee that I would receive it on Friday October 10th (I am shocked that they would lie completely about a delivery date).
They said they were giving the meta dev kits to folks who signed up for their workshops and the workshop is "free" for backers. So if you can sacrifice 2 whole days out of your schedule and make it out to their HQ, you might be able to pick it up "early". Looks like kickstarter backers are last on the priority list and they are more geared towards getting more publicity and pretending to be a cool startup.
I work in Silicon Valley and had a close friend interview at the company a year ago (he's an MIT alum). He chose not to take the job offer since he said the work environment was young and inexperienced with poor project management. I didn't believe him at first, but it's clear now that these guys can't deliver.
Even if/when I get my dev kit, I'll probably look to other platforms like Atheer to support. They'll probably be more successful in the long-run.
Since we can not expect any updates from meta I wrote to firstname.lastname@example.org as suggested in some replies on twitter. This is what I got:
NOV 10, 2014 | 04:34PM PST
We are currently shipping to our US customers and European Kickstarters will follow in several weeks as well. We will be in touch with your tracking information soon. Thank you for all your support and patience!

As precise and binding as always. At least there is still hope we get anything for our money.
Why you guys don't update us?
I've seen lots of PR activity and corporate chit chat (board advisors etc) yet no communication with your first time backers... shame on you
An update is overdue and highly appreciated.
One year over due and no communication at all, this is one project jumped over the clift !!!
I invested my money over a year ago... a lot of money for me... and it is painful to be still left holding the bag of a credit card charge plus interest -- and you guys neither ship nor communicate. At this point, it feels like the Kickstarter folks are the lowest on your priority list. That is both offensive and disappointing. What gives?
I just wanted to let you know magic leap is releasing their AR headset next year, you might want to get a move on with the dev kits if you want anyone to develop apps for them. http://www.magicleap.com
I've never received any private offer, as you guys announced. If you look at you sent box you'll see you never sent that to me.
I reproduce here the comments of Niels Kausche:
"In your Update https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/551975293/meta-the-most-advanced-augmented-reality-interface/posts/710799 you said "For those of you who will be receiving a developer edition from backing us, we have a private offer for you coming, so keep an eye on your inboxes."
I appreciate it takes time and the photos of production are reassuring, our last update approx 9 weeks ago said - Quote "Our current schedule is to ship over the next 4-16 weeks as units come off our assembly line."
Are you still on target to meet this schedule?
@meta you're loosing your community. If the shipping is late more than a year, I can imagine what is the quality of your sdk. I want my refund. I will better spend it on oculus rift.
We are about to post a major hiring update, which will have a large number of new positions, three of which will be helping answer your questions faster and provide developer support. We've had to make decisions to prioritize the ship date over updates, and I'm sorry you guys feel like you're not being kept up to date. Please take my assurance that the developer kit you are getting is much better than what we offered during kickstarter and this additional time has served to give you a lot more than we initially promised.
I understand your frustration over TechCrunch. The reason we participate in these high profile events is they allow us to grow the number of developers on the platform and that's something that helps everyone using the glasses. A larger community makes us stronger, and helps us attract more investment to support everyone. The apps we are rewarding are being filtered to ensure they are something all Meta users will value. None of your money was spent on the TechCrunch event. The only expense for the event was the developer kits, and they were funded by additional investment. My goal is to use these events to grow our developer community and give you the best experience with the Meta 1 possible, i.e. more apps to try, more people to collaborate with. Glad to answer any further queries you have.
Sorry to hear we've missed your emails. We're still hiring people to help answer questions. We haven't filled this team yet, but we do have one new person and another three on the way. The most important step - bringing on a hiring manager, has been completed as well, so now our new hires will come much faster. We recognize the problem getting answers to people, and are working to solve it without delaying shipping.
Yet another month goes by and no word from Meta. Of course, they have plenty of time to go spend our money at TechCrunch and they are giving away units to people grate ideas (in theory), but not backers? Guys, this is not right and you are killing your credibility and trust in the very people that got you going.
META Team does not respond to my messages for over 6 months. All I want to do is purchase the SpaceGlasses, but apparently they don't want the business. Way to treat your backers, META. I want a refund.
Hi Gregory, Aaron,
We are putting together an update right now and it will be online soon!
Could we please get some kind of an update? It's been almost 3 months since the last one.
Any updates on shipping etc?
I apologize for the lack in communication. We have an update coming out shortly! We are getting excitingly close to shipping, which is keeping everyone busier than ever!
In our last update we described the devices are still in production through June/July and when you can expect the glasses https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/551975293/meta-the-most-advanced-augmented-reality-interface/posts/828862
Our CTO and production engineers are in China visiting our manufacturing partners again as the product is coming off the production line. They are testing the parts for quality assurance and will have an update for you in the coming weeks!
We are very excited to be so close to shipping, and can't wait to get the technology into your hands!
So, any update on the shipping status? I appreciate very much the effort to get original backers the updated version and understand how the project plan can slide. Just would like to see a little more communication. It's been over a year and still nothing has been received. What is the latest?
We work with epson to manufacture some of our base optical components. All meta1 ship with a full FOV enhancer that allows for a 35 degree FOV. This is 2.5 times the area of the 23 degree FOV that either moverio model provides.
Sreedhar, We have an update coming in the next few weeks!
Thanks for everyones patiences! Mikt, Marco, We are nearly there! The glasses are in the very final stages of production. We can't wait to get out technology into you hands, so we can see all the awesome things you make.
Just for clarification, is the Meta one using the Epson Moverio BT-100 the Moverio BT-200 or the Lumus DK-40 for the optics. According to this engadget article http://www.engadget.com/2014/05/30/meta-AR-shipping-soon/ it is using the BT-200 optics, i thought you were using the Lumus DK-40 optics. Can you please clarify which one it is.
I finally got request for update to my shipping address. Hope all the backers will get them as well. I am little annoyed with how long it took and with the way company handles kickstarter backers, I agree with 'House on Fire ApS' comment. Hopefully we can start working with Meta dev kits soon. And I will forget time we wait.
"We will be sending out a request for updates to your shipping addresses in the next week."
I didn't get such a message. Did you send these requests already?
Would highly appreciate the update about when I can expect the glasses?
Hi House on Fire ApS,
We did a complete update to the backers in both September and January, explaining how your hard earned funds has helped us raise investment which funded further research in the product. Out of this research we developed technology which we can improve the developer kits as well as the metaPro!
Rather than just starting to sell better develop kits and leaving the kickstarters with the original model, we made the strategic decision to upgrade all of the kickstarters to the upgraded developer kit! However manufacturing these updates take time, we understand that the delays are frustrating.
To be specific, there have been two delays, first to accommodate an ergonomic and styling update that has improved all the glasses https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/551975293/meta-the-most-advanced-augmented-reality-interface/posts/613617 and secondly, to boost the field of view of all glasses from 23 degrees to 35. This gives about a 2x increase to the viewable area of the display from the research alongside the metaPro. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/551975293/meta-the-most-advanced-augmented-reality-interface/posts/710799
No one has received their developer kits yet, and the kickstarters will be getting the very first kits hot off the production line! Our CTO is currently in Shenzhen inspecting our manufacturers, and we will be providing a full update on that in the next week.
All this buzz about the metaPro is great news for you developers, as this is the product your applications will be running on by consumers.
Not only that, but we are offering more in our latest updates to add to your rewards! We are also currently looking for the most promising developers to work with the early prototypes of the developer kits! We are offering all kickstarters complimentary entry to workshops as a free addition to your reward! If you think you have an idea for an meta app that is kickass, check out our latest kickstarter update and apply for our workshops! External companies are paying $5000 for these workshops, but we are offering possitions complementory to our backers :) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/551975293/meta-the-most-advanced-augmented-reality-interface/posts/805107
Thank you for supporting us early on. We recognize you are our crucial kickstarter backers that started this revolution and we working very hard to make sure you get the best we can offer you! Please feel free to contact me personally with any further questions at email@example.com :)
Hi Meta. You promised to deliver us glasses by September last year. Instead it seems you're running with our money developing a new version, which is completely out of some of our reach, price-wise. I'm glad your company is having success on us backer's financing, but can you please deliver on your promise and THEN go ahead with your pro version and whatever further investment you are receiving. Our glasses are becoming old news before we receive them... Worse yet, outdated by your very own product.
I'm terribly sorry. It looks like we missed a few backers with that offer. I will send it through now.
If anyone else was missed, just send me an email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us in a private message. :)
i also never received an offer like you announced in your last update.
Sorry for the delay in the offer. We will send it out to you this week. :)
In your Update https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/551975293/meta-the-most-advanced-augmented-reality-interface/posts/710799 you said "For those of you who will be receiving a developer edition from backing us, we have a private offer for you coming, so keep an eye on your inboxes."
I did not get any private offer, yet. Did I miss something?
thanks for your lengthy statement. Sorry for being so harsh, i am very exited about your product. I think this is going to be the future of how we interact with the real world and I look forward to get one of the glasses in my own hands. The concept of overlapping the world with an artificial realty is so much better then having a mini display somewhere out of your usual field of view. Therefore with every new update you send out, the only message I hope to read is, that you ship. Sometimes it is frustrating that it takes so long, but I understand that you want to send out a good and reliable product only.
I think it is cool for some people to share their ideas on your app store, but this is something i would never do. I have some ideas for apps, and i started developing them using unity, but i would not share. I the end it is all about making money in the hopefully not so far future. Spreading out your ideas to the world before you have a working product, or even a prototype, is in my experience not so futile - you invite everyone else to get it and start to build apps based on your idea. If your idea is good enough, you will have a few competitors, before you even got started.
Our Kickstarter results helped us earn investments and we decided that rather than putting this all into newer models, we wanted to make what you've bought even better. However these updates take time, and we understand that the delays are frustrating. We really want to get this into your hands, but only when it's the best quality product we can make, with the increased resources we now have. Compared to what we offered on Kickstarter, you're now on track to get something much stronger--more powerful software and hardware and much more comfortable and reliable.

The App Store is to help us identify the most desirable concepts so we can focus the SDK capabilities on them. We use this list to prioritize the gestures we develop and the materials we optimize our surface tracking algorithms for. It's also to help our developers start building their customer base. When voting on apps, people leave their contact information, so we're able to connect developers with their first customers and start getting product input before they commence development. Finding the first users is one of the hardest parts of development and we want to help as much as we can.
Our two best of CES awards came from a hands-on experience of our real hardware and software. http://www.tomsguide.com/us/pictures-story/624-6-best-ces-2014.html
We have received full stock of our optics (micro projectors and lenses) to fulfill all orders and most stock of all other components. The product is real and will ship, albeit delayed due to the upgrades.
Thank you for supporting us early on. We recognize we need to give more updates and information on progress to give you confidence in our delivery and you should expect much more communication from here on.
Hi Guys. When will you deliver the backer glasses? I backed you, because i wanted to have a head start with AR glasses. You promised then, that you would deliver in October and that the SDK will be out "next week" and then "soon" after the pledge phase was over. Now it's February, still nothing is available. All you do is constantly announcing new consumer glasses (available presumably in June ;-), open a fake "App" store, where you can only share ideas and tell us how cool it is to work at your company. I start to get the feeling that this is all vaporware and the meta glasses are the Duke Nukem of the 21st century.
@UK backers- I was wondering if any backers in the UK and in particular London wanted to get together once we have our Meta 1 glasses? As a complete novice in this area, I would really appreciate the chance to chat with more experienced people. It would also be fascinating to see how the glasses interact.
Happy New Year!
Wishing all the Meta Team & backers a super holiday and can't wait to see what 2014 has in store!
Because it's not like I was excited enough before reading this ...
