How far will a sister go?……
13-year-old Chichi has her life shattered the night she witnesses her 8 year old brother Marcus abducted by a mysterious entity. She then sets out on an unexpected journey which leads her across dimensions where she discovers a shocking revelation!
Aided by a talking weaponized A.I Gauntlet, her unwavering determination, stubborn attitude that leads her into some difficult situations, strong will and sharp wit, Chichi will stop at nothing to find Marcus.
The creative team behind Chichi are just are a group of big kids who (individually) have had a strong passion for comicbooks, movies, video games, cartoons and pop culture for decades and have had experience in the comic book industry.
One night while munching pizza and watching a movie, these big geeks ‘accidentally’ came up with the idea to create their own comic book series. Once the idea started to expand, so did their roles. But who are these guys? Meet the Crazy team behind Chichi:
a. Don C. Chinozz: (Writer). The chief geezer of this project and master geek. He has been into comic books ever since he was strapped in Diapers! Chinozz is no stranger to writing as he has written quite a number of comicbook stories.
b. Sketch (Artist/colourist): Sketch has had an extensive experience in character concepts and designs. His unique art style can be described as ‘wacky cartoony’. The exact art direction we wanted to go in.
c. Yong Do'nut (Project supervisor): She is what we describe to as the glue that that sticks everyone together and will ensure the smooth sailing of this project from start to completion even in the face of heated creative differences. She is also a major movie/comic book junkie and has had years of experience as a project supervisor.
d. Vivian ‘the bull’ (Editor): The eagle of this project and Self-proclaimed Comic/movie guru oh and err…Rugrat and Sharknado fan! "nuff said!"
‘Chichi’ has been envisioned to be a short mini-series which features an ensemble of colourful characters, pop culture references, humour and yes, tons and tons of ACTION! This first issue will act as a build-up and introduce you to some of the major characters and will eventually expand. Honestly, we can’t wait to introduce you guys to various characters in the ‘Chichi universe!’ (especially the villains!).
The major influence of this project can be attributed to a few of our favourite 90’s cartoon series like: Pinky and the brain, Freakazoid, Bravestarr, Cops, TMNT and a few of the more recent shows like Ben 10 (The very first season!!) and Disney’s Tarzan.
For the art, we decided to ditch the conventional art style for something ‘cartoony’ with vibrant colours. We drew inspiration from some of our favourite artists in the comic industry like Skottie Young (I hate Fairyland), John boy Meyers (Teen Titans), Ryan Ottley (Invincible) and Jeffrey Cruz (Street Fighter). Special thanks to Jeffrey Cruz!
Originally, we wanted to make the first issue a 22-page book, but we had so much to include that collectively, we decided to make it a whopping 30 pages!! At the moment, Chichi is waiting to be printed (as you can see from some of the images). Meanwhile, we are currently working on the 'Rough copy limited edition' (see details below).
One thing we all decided on at the start, was that this project will NOT be rushed. We all agreed that we want to produce a comicbook of high quality and standard. Not just in the physical copy, but in the art and script as well as the gift.
We will start shipping in January both the physical and digital copies as well as other pledge merchandise. We will update fans as well as contributors on the current status of our progress.
KICK-STARTER EXCLUSIVE!! LIMITED TO 30 COPIES!
Chichi: The rough cut edition. ( for pledges of £300 and over!).
This version contains very strong language and graphic violence. This limited edition is ONLY available on Kick-starter and includes bonus content and two pages from issue 2!
Risks and challenges
Chichi possess traits from all her creators thus making her our baby and like all proud parents we want to share our baby’s story with everyone. But our major challenge comes in the form of funding. That’s right! We need funds to ensure the success of this book. We have already secured a company for the book printing, t-shirts, stickers, badges and other goodies.
The story of Chichi is one that has been in development for the past 3 years. We will ensure that every supporter will be satisfied with what we have to offer.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any inquiries.
Many thanks for your time...and support.
