A story about turning NOTHING into SOMETHING! An aspring musician down and out after the system failed him, rises to FAME by any means.
INDEPENDENT PROJECT! ITS JUST US AND YOU!
We dont want to just make a music video. We want to make a movie to music! I want to make a SHORT FILM that leaves the viewer SPEACHLESS and INSPIRED!
I want to step up the feeling of this video by utilizing special locations, props, professionals and effects. I want to leave the viewer feeling like they just saw a box office movie. This music film is a story about turning nothing into something! Imagine growing up poor and always fighting to overcome all the odds that are against you to finally achieve your american dream. Driving the best cars, having the most beautiful women lust after you, the biggest mansion, flying in helicopters and making money you could never have dreamed of. This video will illustrate the struggle and achievement!
WHY DOES A SHORT FILM LIKE THIS COST SO MUCH?
I did mention I wanted to have a very cinematic feel for this video and in comparison to a movie this is a "cute" budget. Most movies average a cost of $300,000.00 and thats just for a small indie. This funding goal is just enough to complete my vision. I am very good at stretching a budget and making the most out of what I have available. I want the storyline of the video to have locations such as a mansion, a luxury club with all of the fancy lighting and props, helicopter scene, ariel helicopter footage of atlanta, a fast sports car, beautiful women, exotic animals, and champagne flowing with sparklers. This budget will allow me to bring in professionals and get the best lighting crew, crane operators, and camera operators, The production quality and locations will be the best for this video.
Note** The more money we raise the closer we can get to our vision of making a detailed and visually extravagant film! It will dramatically increase the quality and integrity of this project. Lets make this happen together.
SYNOPSIS OF THE FILM
We are taking 4 songs off the music project and putting them in an order where they play like a movie. We are writing a treatment that plays like a short film and the music acts as the dialogue.
It's New Years eve and Shawty Lo and his friends are making a hopeful toast to the upcoming year. Shawty Lo drifts off into a daydream of how life would be if he made it as a successful musician. He invisions the fancy cars he would be driving, the beautiful women by his side, being famous and in the spotlight, having a number one album, and the massive amounts of money he will have made. This dream ends with a rude awakening when he is startled out of his sleep by his Correctional Officer. Today is the day Shawty Lo is released from prison after serving a year. Thats all the DA could pin on him when they were trying to bust him. Shawty Lo comes from Bowen Homes a poverty stricken housing project in Atlanta where it is survival of the fittest. Shawty Lo was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was arrested for a crime he did not commit.
When released from jail he has nothing and has to think fast to get back on his feet. Before prison he worked a job as a construction worker by day and aspiring musician by night. He tried to live by the rules of society. After the system failed him he feel like he has to get back on his feet by any means available to him. He assembles a crew and takes a small loan from a local loan shark with which to start his endeavor. He begins by moving on smaller crews that control the neighborhood and taking over different neighborhood operations. His plan is to get enough money together to start his music career and go back to a legitiment lifestyle. He takes over card games and street vendors and finally gets enough money together to start a studio. Here he will record his music, press his music, record videos, and set up a geek squad to impact the digital world.
He builds his career by passing out cd's, building a following through social networking, launching a massive viral campaign, and recording great music. He starts making enough money through adsense, indy cd sales, and digital sales to become completely legitament.
The story ends with him getting signed to a major label and getting a commercial push to the world and becoming THE TALK OF THE TOWN!
WHAT THE FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR
These funds will be used to achieve a quality of the film and to aquire the exotic locations and props needed to give this film the edge it needs to become cinematic. Lighting experts, top camera operators. and location scouts will be hired to ensure that our goal is accomplished. We have carefully planned and budgeted this project many different ways and this goal is the bare minimum. Locations and props can get pretty expensive in an extensive shoot like this.
WHY YOU SHOULD FUND THIS PROJECT
First because you're awesome! This song is from a promotion product that the artist [shawty lo] put out independently so all visuals from this project are independent. Normally you can't go all out and spend big money on an independent project because there is no funding.
This makes it difficult for me as the visual artist [Director] because I have vivid and specific visions of how I would love a visual for a particular song to be seen. Shawty Lo also wants to give his fans quality entertainment that sets him apart from the rest. This music project was a promotional product as i mentioned so there was no funding elaborate visual.
I want to deliver a visually stimulating piece of work for the fans. I have a very clear vision for this project and I am sure you now share this vision. Lets have fun making this creation happen!
THE VISION, THE PLAN, THE MASTERPIECE! IN DETAIL!
***If I was pledging to a project I would want to know the full plan. So here it is in detail.
The first song. Part 1. "We on This Year"
The opening scene of the video will re-enact a new years party with people counting down then toasting to the new year. Shawty lo will toast with his friends at the table and shout "THIS IS OUR YEAR! WE ON THIS YEAR!"
[Music will begin]
Fade In - Big Gate opening with a Lamborghini waiting to pull into the driveway. Text will say "10 months later. Two million albums sold." The car will pull in slow motion [camera overhead crane view] and will pull up to a huge mansion. Beautiful girls greet him at the door and escort him up the stairs. Shawty lo enters his closet opens a safe and unloads piles of money from his backpack. Close safe fade to black. [During these scenes cut back and forth between ariel shots of the beautiful city of atlanta and ariel views of the massive mansion shawty lo is in]
Fade in girl helping him put on his sport coat in his massive walk in closet. He exits mansion with a beautiful woman and speeds off in his lamborghini. [Ariel helicopter shots of shawty lo speeding through the city with police escorts] Shawty lo pulls up to a club in slow motion. The spot lights are beaming and the line is long to get in the club. Shawty lo exits his car in slow motion. The security lifts the velvet rope and as shawty lo enters the club paparazzi is shooting pictures of him with flashes [Cut away shot of a computer screen loaded to TMZ.com with a picture of shawty lo entering the club as the headline]
Shawty Lo enters VIP section. Amazing views of a packed club with lights beaming everywhere and sparklers on bottles being carried by beautiful waitresses. Shawty lo sits in VIP with the same people he toasted the new year too in the beggining of the video. Waitresses deliver them fine champagne with sparklers to add effect. Shawty lo toasts with his people. Shawty lo is delivered a stack of money as payment for showing up to the club by the owner. They then exit the club from the back where a helicopter awaits to take them to the next location on a roof overlooking atlanta. They land helicopter on the roof [shown in slow motion]. A man meets him on the roof and hands him a briefcase full of money. Shawty lo in turn hands him a bag filed with copies of his new cd . They light cigars to celebrate. Shawty lo then enters an elevator and exits into the penthouse suite of the w hotel where he is greeted by 3 beautiful females that escort him to the bed and pamper him. As Shawty Lo clicks glasses with the female there is a flash of light that occurs and he finds himself being woken up by a correctional officer. It turns out it was just a dream and he is in fact locked up in jail for a crime he did not commit. His year sentence is up and he is being released.
PERFORMANCE SHOTS [In between Storyline]
Shawty Performing wIth Fire Breathers on set. Performing in the elite locations secured for shooting.
Transitions to next song. Part 2. "New Money" [Features major recording artist Cash Out]
This part of the movie is going to be a play off of the movie "King of NY". It will begin with Shawty Lo being escorted through the cell blocks and out of prison. When he exits there will be a limousine waiting for him with two beautiful women in the car. He will ride through the city of Atlanta and will pull up to where Bowen Homes [where his home used to be]. While he was in jail the city pushed everyone out of the crime stricken area and tore down the housing project. Shawty Lo meets a loan shark in this location who gives him a bag full of money that he will need to assemble a crew and get back on his feet. He then rides to the Plaza Hotel where he will be setting up shop. We show a lavish suite where he showers. His girl prepares him food and lays out his clothes. After he changes and walks out to the living area where there is a knock at the door. His girl greets his friends who come in and have a playful face off with LO. They ask him if he still plans on attempting a career at music. Shawty lo confirms and then sits them down to hear a plan on how they will take over the city and make enough money to fund his music project.
We flash back to before Shawty was in jail. We see him walking home from the bus stop in his construction gear. He stops at the store for something to drink. As he is in the store 2 guys run in and rob the store. As the guys get away the police arrive and arrest LO as he is exiting the store and place him in back of the cop car. We then flash to a courtroom where they charge him with being an accomplice in the robbery and sentence him to a year in prison. Shawty was an innocent bystander and feels as though the system is against him. While in jail he loses his job and his home. He is left with nothing and must resort to extremes to survive.
***FLASHBACK TO PRESENT DAY***
In the hotel Shawty lo explains to his crew how they will take over clubs and underground card games. We show shawty lo operating out of the plaza hotel and counting his money. Shawty lo goes to his clubs and collects his money from the back office. This part of the movie is where we show him getting money together and eventually buying a warehouse where he plans on having a one stop shop operation for his music. He plans to hire an in house digital team, building a green room for shooting videos, a state of the art recording studio, and setting up a distribution for his music.
Transitions to next song. Part 3. "Keep it Cool" [Features major recording artist Geurilla Zoe]
This part of the Music Film is all about Shawty Lo working toward his dream of becoming a famous musician. He pulls up to a warehouse and a gate and it slowly opens. He is greeted by a man in a suit. Shawty Lo signs some papers and shakes the mans hand. In the next shots you see them setting up a room for a recording studio, another room for manufacturing promotional products, another room with computers for people to manage their social media presence, and last a green room for shooting visuals to the music. This is a behind the scenes look on the grind it takes to make it in the music business and to brand yourself. Shawty lo will be recording late nights in studio and immediatley going to shoot a visual after the song is complete. Then he will take the visual to the geek room where they will edit and upload the visual for the fans to see. As the song goes on we will see Shawty Lo's followers on twitter increase as well as his youtube views. In the promotional product room girls will be working around the clock printing cds, posters, dvds, and loading them into vans where the promotional team can hand them out in malls and schools. Soon Shawty Lo will be featured on MTV and doing interviews in major publications. He will begin to perform in small venues. This will all build up to Shawty Lo building his name up to a point where he is now being paid for shows and able to sell his music online. This chapter ends with a call from a major label that is interested in signing Shawty Lo. A major label push is all he needs to become the talk of the town.
Transitions to next song. Part 4. "Talk of the Town" [Features Surprise Guest]
This is the final chapter of the music film. This is the part where Shawty Lo signs his major deal and throws a concert for the whole city. Its a major event. In this chapter Shawty Lo is really living the life that he once dreamed about from his jail cell. He turned a bad situation into a positive. He turns nothing into something. He is the TALK OF THE TOWN!
