The Almadel is an ancient magical tool and gateway to communicating with angels. Making it exactly as in the grimoire "Ars Almadel."
The Almadel is a small wax magical altar with roots in Ancient Jewish and Arabian Magick, used to invoke and communicate with a specific group of angels with a crystal ball. The Almadel consists of a square plate of wax engraved with magical names and characters, which rests upon four candles constructed with special feet for suspending the plate in the air. The plate has holes in the corners, and mastic incense is burned beneath it so that the smoke flows through the holes and the angel descends.
The angels in the system relate to the seasons and the year's astrological calendar. Whether you are interested in practical esoteric exploration of this unique angelic magic or if you are just interested in unusual curiosities the Almadel will be a beautiful piece of mystical art. There are actually four different Almadels, each in a different color for each of the four seasons and their different angels. (White, rose red, silvery green, and greenish black)
This is a rough diagram of what the Almadel will look like. The specially shaped candles are based upon diagrams found in two Hebrew texts.
I have always been fascinated by magical objects such as the Almadel, and I have wanted to make the Almadel for several years now. And as always, I have wanted to share magical objects such as these with the public. As far as I know, no one has ever produced an Almadel for sale to the public. Indeed, few have probably made any at all in the modern era. I know of only one, who has made them only for his own explorations.
My Almadels will be made according to the exact instructions of the grimoire "Ars Almadel." The magical names I will "write betwixt every hole with a new pen, These words or names of god, following, but this is to be done in the day and hour of Sol." I will be engraving each of these by hand on sundays, in order to follow this instruction. I will also offer unengraved Almadels, so that an interested person can engrave the names themselves "in the day and hour of Sol." (see my rewards for this option)
Due to the rather obscure nature of this magical artifact I am also writing a small book to (optionally) go along with the Almadel itself, which will contain details of the history of the Almadel, how it may be used for communicating with angels, and general information on some of the best ways to enter into communion with angels. Again, this book is an interesting read, whether you are practically going to contact angels or just curious about the subject. All books shipped to backers will be autographed.
I have created most of my prototype as you can see in the video. What is left is creating molds for the plate and the candles, obtaining the rest of the raw materials, and contingencies that come up to allow for creating a viable product. I am very close to having a completed project and the only thing that is standing in the way is the production costs of completing the project.
The money that you raise with me when you back this project will be used to pay for:
- moldmaking materials
- candlemaking supplies
- new wax carving tools (as prescribed in the grimoire)
- colorants (for the four varieties of colors)
- candle wicks
- book printing costs
There are various levels of contributions with various levels of rewards. It is possible if one or two people order one of the larger rewards that I will raise more money than the goal amount. Please continue backing the project anyway, especially if you actually want an Almadel or any of the other rewards, as they will be more expensive and available only in limited numbers when and if they are generally released to the public. I really want to get orders for at least 20 Almadels, so that I know that there is really enough interest to offer the Almadel publicly. Your contribution is very important at any level to bring this vision into life.
This is a very unusual project with an obviously elite and highly specific audience. Your contribution will let me know that my effort in seeing the project to the end is worthwhile.
