Wayne and Marie are Characters in a series of children’s books covering topics of child safety. Our new story will feature Wayne who is a young scientist and inventor. Wayne uses his invented gadgets to see when bad things are happening or going to happen to other children by receiving an alert on his “special” holographic watch. Wayne can load the GPS coordinates and transport to the location and help the child in danger make the right choices. He is always in a rush to get home to check on his projects!
Marie loves her big brother and is always following him around. One day Marie discovers Wayne’s secret lab and his missions to help children stay safe. As a budding inventor herself, she desperately wants to help, but there are many things she has to learn before she can get her own "special" watch.
There are currently three books published outlining Marie’s journey to learning how to be safe and make good decisions: I am seeking funding to introduce Wayne’s story line by publishing and printing his story in a book.
I believe children are our most precious asset and we should do everything in our power to protect them. As a parent, I would do anything to protect my children. As a retired law enforcement officer who has worked with children for many years, I know that staying safe comes down to the choices we make. With the ability to have children put in their own words what they can do to stay safe, you can provide them with ownership and control over their own actions, which will also reinforce the lesson. Our children's books have simple and fun stories that let a child imagine examples that would fit your family.
Our goal is to continue our story lines and expand the character development. We want Wayne and Marie to be to safety what: Dora the Explorer is to Spanish and exploring.
Our Vision: Create a series that shows the growth of Wayne's "Guardians of Safety Warriors" made up of a diverse group of children who work together in a secret lab tracking the challenges facing many kids today. The warriors will face their own challenges as they try to invent new technology and gadgets to support their missions. Your support will allow us to create the extended story line of Wayne. And reprint our original 3 books into one, with some new edits and create an animated DVD demo of Wayne's first story.

A 14 year old boy who has a big heart and a strong desire to keep all kids safe. Wayne loves to fly his skateboard, build and take apart any type of electronic, and invent new gadgets. Wayne is a young scientist and inventor like his Great Grandfather was and he has the ability to see when bad things are happening or going to happen to other children by receiving an alert on his “special” holographic watch. Wayne’s Great Grandfather was a well-known inventor who created products that were known to be before his time. This special watch was one of his ideas and Wayne used his latest computer technology to make the watch come to life. Wayne receives an alert and image of the dangerous event on his watch. Wayne can load the GPS coordinates and transport to the location and help the child in danger make the right choices. He also leads a group of kids called the "Guardian of Safety Warriors" in a secret lab. They come together as a team to create new technology and devices to help them in keeping kids safe. He is building a Robotic Dog named Max with the help of his Friend Nalda, who runs circles around Wayne when it comes to computer programming.
A 5 year old girl who is very curious and independent. She wants to do everything herself and grow up big and strong like her brother Wayne. Marie loves to do everything she can to get Wayne’s attention, which usually involves getting herself into trouble. She loves to talk to her mother about safety and learn the things that she can do to stay safe. Marie loves her big brother and is always following him around. One day Marie discovers Wayne’s secret that he helps other children stay safe. She desperately wants to help, but there are many things she has to learn before she can get her own watch so she can help keep kids safe. So with this challenge Marie starts on a mission to learn as much as she can about staying safe.
I have three books that are published:
The I am lost story talks about what to do if you become separated from your guardians/parents. The story shows what a cash register looks like so if the child is in the store they will know where an "employee" is. Additionally, it points out to the parents that they should make sure the children know their full names....not just "mom" or "dad".
Knock Knock is a story about teaching children not to just go and open the door when someone rings the door bell or knocks. Anyone who has younger children know there are times you do not want the front door open, especially when you are in the shower. Also it is not safe to just open your house up for anyone unless you know who is at the door.
What is a Stranger is a basic story touching on making decisions and recognizing we can be familiar with people who we still do not know personally. This is such a hard topic, because danger can come from known and unknown people. We cover in review that each parent should discuss with the children who is in their "safety circle" meaning these are the people we can trust.
Developing their story line will bring something new and different to the market.
What will the book contain? The new printed book will contain Wayne's story line and three of the original stories featuring Marie. The book will be hardback cover. The dollar amount will cover editing, illustrations, animation and printing.
What type of marketing will be done? There will be a marketing budget to create PR around this new story line and the extended safety series. This will include printed marketing materials to be mailed and distributed.
How many stories are there? We do not have a total number in mind, but the readily available topics to cover product about 10-15 each between Wayne and Marie.
What is your vision? We would like to receive the funding we need to launch this project. We will make this a success in the printed world and pitch our animated demo DVD, then come back to you for a launch on a DVD series bringing the printed stories to life.
Risks and challenges
There is risk in every project, as an experienced entrepreneur I recognize this. There is a risk in the project not meeting a deadline, or going over budget. I have built in some extra completion time and worked the expenses out for every step in hopes to avoid this as a risk. I will utilize my experience as a small business owner to oversee the project’s success.
Our target market is not a fading one, becoming a parent and raising children is a constant. We will need to package the stories where they are captivating and informative, yet fun and not scary. I have had focus groups with parents and will continue to do these as we are able to build the story lines and deliver additional episodes.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
