SPACE BREW - A Sci-fi drinking card game
Space Brew is a drinking game played with cards. Players drink booze, fight monsters, hire mercenaries and salvage parts
Space Brew is a drinking game played with cards. There are 200 cards, including 70 unique monsters, 15 mercenaries, items, weapons, sicknesses, salvage and money. All for just £20 delivered world-wide!
What are the Rules?
The game is simple and quick to pick up. The aim was to make something that can be played in a party environment by people who may not be regular gamers.
The aim of the game is to be the first to salvage enough parts to repair your ship. These parts, along with a range of pieces of equipment, weapons and 'space sicknesses' are dropped by monsters that you defeat.
The basic mechanics of the game are that you draw cards, encounter monsters and drink a specified amount of sips in order to defeat the monsters. These monsters drop an array of loot that grants power-ups, inflicts forfeits and generally whips up some fun!
Mercenaries can be hired after rescuing them from monsters, and you can steal other player's mercenaries by paying them off. Mercenaries have a range of different power-ups and will help you to kill monsters. They reduce the amount that you need to drink in order to defeat monsters and some will hinder your opponent's progress.
There are currency cards, used to bribe other player's mercs, and there is a range of space sicknesses. These have different effects on the player, some require you to perform a forfeit and some have ongoing symptoms that will stick with you until you find a cure.
Everyone who pledges at the print-and-play level and above will have a little alien picture with their name added to this poster. The size of the poster will depend on the number of backers.
Here are some items that you can add on to your pledge. I will put some more items in here during the project.
In the event that the project surpasses its funding goal, I'll add some stretch goals down here. The first is for all 200 cards to have unique art (most of them will anyway, the currency cards are the only ones that currently use the same design, I'd like to change that though).
Risks and challenges
As I am doing 100% of the work on this project, the only risk is if something happens to me. I don't like stress and I don't leave things until the last minute. I've waited until I have done pretty much all of the work before launching. Everything is in place apart from placing orders and completing artwork for some of the higher pledge levels.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
