Very happy to be sending out the final round of rewards this week. As with the A6 prints in December, there’ll be an extra A4 one added to the bundles - this one featuring a montage of faces from paintings created during the project.
Although this phase of my Painting Dance project is ending, my plan now is to continue working with Ballet Cymru (currently developing their new show, The Light Princess, which is looking wonderful) and to build on the experiences of the past few months. Support from the Kickstarter gave me the time and resources to explore new ideas, collaborate with great people, make mistakes, and generally cover a lot more creative ground than would otherwise have been possible. The project has been a tremendous boost to my practice as an artist, and I now have a much clearer idea about the directions my work will take in the future. I’m very excited about taking it all forward.
In a related - though unexpected - bit of news, I’m also pleased to announce that I’m now represented by the beautiful Fin y Parc Gallery, located on the edge of Snowdonia, North Wales. My first exhibition with them will open on May 28th, and will feature a number of works from my Painting Dance series, together with a selection of portraits and nudes dating from the past ten years. For details, please see here.
A final thank you to everyone who has supported this project and made it happen - backers, dancers, all at Ballet Cymru, the chums who suggested doing it and persuaded me that it wasn't a daft idea, and those who helped me put it all together. I'm very grateful to everyone.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts about the work, or anything else, and please get in touch if you're expecting prints but have any kind of problem. Everyone should receive them within the next week. It's been tricky to decide which images to include, but I hope everyone's happy with the choices.
