Usage Magazine is a new biannual magazine focusing on cosmetics and beauty. Paris based but written in English, Usage Magazine showcases the products with a non-commercial but artistic aesthetic.
We are a team of art directors, graphic designers and photographers who already work in the fields of fashion, luxury and beauty in Paris.
Usage Magazine is born with the idea that today, the beauty industry is losing its creativity whilst climbing a commercial escalator. In order to bring back this creativity and beauty jobs back to the foreground, such as hairdressers and makeup artists who have all been left behind, we have created Usage Magazine.
For the first issue, the magazine includes worldwide to niche brands, curated by quality, not by hype.
As beauty is made to be contemplated, we display the beauty within still-life focused photo series. We gave “carte blanche”/a free pass, if you will, to more than 20 worldwide contributors in order to offer them the opportunity to express their talent and their creativity. We want to break the already established frontiers between art and commerce by giving the speech to creatives. We are proud to give you exclusive content thanks to the trust, the energy and the support of all our contributors.

PART. 3 - Documenta
Los Angeles based photographer Sergiy Barchuk will explore by a photographic report the world of DIY makeup and natural light.

As graphic designers who have produced books ourselves, we appreciate high-quality publishing and know what it takes to produce a high-quality magazine. The magazine will be printed in Verona, Italy.
Having designed and produced many books, magazines and print supports ourselves, we understand the process well and have already been working closely with printers to iron out any problems they anticipate before production. We will be reviewing hard copy proofs of every page before printing. When the magazine is being printed, we will be visiting the printing plant to conduct a press check to ensure the color reproduction is faithful to the original.
This is a big magazine that is going to take time to print, bind, and finish. We are working closely with our printer in Italy to ensure the smoothest production possible and, if funded, we plan on updating backers regularly on each step of the process.

On each magazine, there will be a sticker. Hand-sticked in Italy, each issue will be unique. This sticker will feature all the content and the contributors of the magazine, designed as a cosmetic inspired sticker.
We designed a dedicated page in the first issue of the magazine for the people who will support us on kickstarter. This page will be placed at the beginning of the magazine. Each person will be listed in an alphabetical order with his First Name, Last Name and country.

Usage Magazine is 30% self-financed by their founders.

Risks and challenges
The greatest challenge with any finished magazine is shipping; once printed, our main goal is to have all copies shipped by the end of June. All of the funds raised, including any addition to our goal, will be invested into our second issue.
