About this project
UPDATE: Wow! You guys are amazing! Thanks so much for all your support. We have raised our goal to $22,000 so that we can develop more digital content for the magazine. Things like embedded videos, downloadable PDF patterns and interactive tutorials.
By Hand is a lifestyle magazine for people who make, with departments for cooking, crafting, DIY, gardening, and do-gooding. Each issue will feature photo-intensive tutorials and recipes from pros and profiles of people who make their living with their hands.
We're tired of buying magazines that only feature one recipe you would actually cook, one pattern you actually want to knit, so By Hand will be packed with just the good stuff!
To that end,we have lined up an incredible team on contributors and editors, including Marisa McClellan of Food in Jars, textile designer and printmaker Lizzy House, costume designer and Gather Here owner Virginia B. Johnson, Mindset Direct founder Kristin McCurry, National Geographic Traveler editor-at-large Sheila Buckmaster, magazine writer Christine Chitnis, web designer Michelle Randolph, knitwear designers Pam Wynne, Caroline Fryar and Laura Nelkin, graphic designer Michelle Lukezic, and - believe it or not - many more.
By Hand will be a quarterly magazine for the first year while we find our feet, with the first issue premiering in the early Fall. We're already hard at work on it and it's going to be spectacular!
To thank you for supporting By Hand Magazine, we've got some fantastic rewards lined up for you, starting with our signature "The Revolution Will Be..." posters and t-shirts.
By popular demand, we've added a crochet version of our "The revolution will be..." designs! It is available as a poster and a t-shirt.
New Reward! We are thrilled to offer another reward, at the $20 and $45 levels. This original drawing produced specifically to support Juniper Moon Farm's Kickstarter Campaign for their new magazine By Hand - created with graphite, watercolor, and colored pencil by Donna McKenzie.
Regular readers of the Juniper Moon Farm blog will recognize Wren and Sabine decked out in hand knits!
