Servitor Series & PAX Unplugged Storyline Event

Greetings everyone! David Lapp here, Community Manager for Pine Box Entertainment. I'd like to take the time to share with all of you what we have planned coming up for Organized Play.

As you may recall, our 2017 Doomtown: Reloaded European Champion, Robert Campbell chose to move the story setting to Tombstone, Arizona! Participants in the Epitaph Series Events represented the Law Dogs more than any other faction. As such, new tales will feature Wendy and Lucy as they travel to the "Town too Tough to Die," as it was known. In addition, we're going to advance the Doomtown: Reloaded storyline TWO years to October of 1881!

In our next Series, the stakes rise as the Servitors attempt to corrupt characters you know and love (and love to hate!). At every Servitor event, each player has a choice: casting a vote to either corrupt a specific dude or save their soul! After we tally these votes, the dude represented by the leading faction will have their story of corruption or salvation/redemption told.

The following dudes are on the block to have their fates determined by you, the players:

  • Law Dogs: Drew Beauman
  • Morgan Cattle Company: Kyle Wagner (Harrowed ???)
  • Fourth Ring: Valeria Batten
  • The Sloane Gang: Maria Kingsford
  • 108: Bai Yang Chen
  • Eagle Wardens: Black Elk

To reflect this momentous series, event winners will receive a playmat of the Inner Struggle cardThis also gives the Sloane Gang its own mat since they didn't have one in any previous event series!

The Event Kits also include all four Servitors with alternate art and the following promos!

These events will run from October 21, 2017, through January 28, 2018. We hope that the Servitor series will surpass previous series for number of events and participants. Individuals and Retailers who have purchased There Comes A Reckoning receive PDF Print-And-Play versions of these cards legal for these events.

Events may be run as one day tournaments, a day of casual play, or four week leagues, with one Servitor provided for each week of participation.

PAX Unplugged Event

For those attending PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia from November 17-19, 2017 we have planned a Servitor Event unlike any we've done before!

"Should we tell them?" asked Lucy.

Wendy responded. "They need to know. We can trust the brothers, and the lunger seems like he's already attuned to what's really going on. They need to understand there's a greater evil than the cowboys."

THE FATE OF MARIO CRANE

As Lucy and Wendy reflect back on what happened in the two years prior to their arrival in Tombstone, we learn the fate of what occurred to Mario Crane. The winner of the event decides if Mario can claw his way back from the abyss, or succumb completely to madness, and become a minor Servitor. The Runner-Up will help in making a decision regarding Jessica Prachett’s whereabouts (former Sloane).

Each round of the event, a random table will help choose a card featured in the conflict. The players will discuss their card choice, and the winner of the round will report the decision. Thus these players will help determine the story’s direction. On the final round of Swiss for our event, this will automatically go to the final table.

Attending PAX Unplugged but don't have a Doomtown: Reloaded deck yet? Come find a member of the Pine Box Entertainment team and we will provide you with one to participate in this major storyline event! Learn to Play demos also available.

Not only that, we will have exclusive items for sale and hosting a community event the day before the convention. We hope to see you all there!

@Yipe, we will keep that in mind on the mats! The promo will be unique to the event, with an announcement after regarding an additional way to obtain it.

      @Lapp,

Will the PAX Unplugged convention promo be available for other events/players, or is it unique to that event?

If you're looking for playmat suggestions, the best reactions I've had are to my Jackson Strike playmat.

People in my playgroup have also requested mats of the various homes, though I could also see some goods (such as the Legendary Holster) or deeds making excellent mats. Personally, I like to pair up my playmats with my decks, and goods and deeds are a bit more generic in that regard so they go with everything.

@Mar5in, the full bleeds are just for this series, the ones in the Kickstarter will be the original art with updated wording.

The story prizes look great, well done for encouraging community involvement here. Nice to have something encouraging participation for both the Servitor Series and Pax Unplugged rather than just focusing on the high placing players (who get a very cool prizes for Pax, determining Mario Crane/Jessica Prachett's fates). The corruption/redemption element hits a key Deadlands theme too.

Highly encourage people to head along to these events if they're able, the US player base was very welcoming when I met them. Fun, high quality matches but played in a friendly spirit.

I like the Servitor Series logo too, very thematic.

Are these alt-arts of Henry and Mugging the ones included in the stretch goals for this kickstarter? Or will those errata cards have the same art?

    7. Lapp Collaborator on September 11

      @Yipe
      1. PAX Unplugged will have the same promos, in addition to a new convention promo.
      2. The Inner Struggle playmat for the Servitor Series will be regular, so we can finally get a mat out there that features Sloane; expect the alt art to appear at PAX.
      3. We're always on the lookout for community response when it comes to prize support, so it's definitely something to consider :)

      A few questions:

      1. Will the promos/prizes in the new event kit be the same as those at PAX Unplugged?
      2. Is the Inner Struggle playmat art from the original card or the alt-art promo?
      3. Are there any plans to turn that pic of Wendy with the .30-30 into a playmat?

@David: They are a new alternate art. The full breakdown of promos will be provided to each tournament organizer. There is no sign up yet for any PAX Unplugged events. The applications for the Servitor Series events will be up this week and players at PAX are welcome to sign up the day of the event. We fully encourage inviting any friends and Savage Worlds players into this event, as we will have extra decks on hand to provide :)

Are these the full bleed servitors or a new alternate art? How many promos does a participant get? Does each player get each servitor and a play set of the other promos? Is there a sign up for pax somewhere?
