Oxford is an English city of culture, heritage and prestige. Throughout the generations, it has developed into a hub of academia and modern style, yet it still upholds the upper class values of a true English gentlemen. This city is known for its monumental architecture, it is home to some of the oldest standing medieval buildings, as well as distinguished designs from other eras.
Carfax tower in Oxford is all that remains of the 12th century St. Martins church, which was once the cities official place of worship. It is an example of great architecture and design, as time passes and the city around it develops, this tower stands proud, its structure is a reminder of the prominent characteristics from English history. Even today, no building in central Oxford is allowed to be built higher than its 74 feet spire. The tower features six bells which were recast in 1676, these are only rung on special occasions.
Its clock was installed in 1898 and uses a pair of bells cast by John Taylor & Co which chime every quarter hour, the dial and surroundings were designed by Sir TG Jackson, who is considered to be one of England's greatest architects. In 1938, the original clock mechanism was replaced with a more reliable electric one.
Adopting these values, along with a passion for designing timepieces, has inspired the creation of the beautiful Kensington watch powered by a Swiss Made movement. The Kensington watch is inspired by traditional English church clocks and architecture. Our objective is to recreate the integrity and style of Oxford buildings within our watch designs, offering our customers with a timeless and fashionable accessory.
The Kensington watch features Roman numerals, a representation of the classic design style of the English church clock. We have used the original numeral for the number 4 (IIII) to maintain integrity. This was traditional for sundials and early clocks, the subtractive notation IV was only used after the fall of the western roman empire.
While there is speculation on why different numerals for the number 4 are used, the most commonly accepted reason is that the romans were hesitant to use “IV” as this was part of the latin name for the Jupiter God, therefore, the IIII has been considered the proper way since the progressive development of sundials.
The second hand is featured in the 6 o'clock position of the face, which gives a symmetrical and balanced aesthetic. The CD cut pattern gives the dial a premium look.
Crown and button
Our watch is complimented by a bespoke crown. This is something that has been inspired by the intricate gear systems found in traditional English church clocks. Our crowns are a signature element with the Blenheim ‘B’ icon engraved into them.
The crown uses traditional functionality to change the time, simply pull the stem out to the second gear, rotate to the desired time, and push back in.
The Kensington watch will be available in three different unisex colours, gunmetal black, silver and rose gold. Each colour communicates a unique approach to this classic design style.
The 40mm wide, 316 stainless steel case comes fitted with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal window, The curve of the crystal matches the bezel angle to form an almost seamless arc over the dial. Double-domed and made from Sapphire, the crystal is piercingly clear and allows the dial to be read from any angle. To cut down on excessive reflections the crystal is treated with an anti-reflect coating.
The back of the case includes a small glass aperture, this emphasises the quality and craftwork which goes into watch engineering. It is securely fitted to provide up to 5 metres ATM, and features a product spec engraving.
Our genuine Leather straps are ideal for dress watches and other daily wear timepieces, they work perfectly with your bespoke suits or tuxedo.
As with all of our designs, this watch will come fitted with a quick release wrist strap as standard. This allows you to customise your style by purchasing additional straps to add to your collection.
Width: 40.0mm (excluding crown)
Lug width: 20.0mm
This watch is a great balance between profile, weight and quality. It is comfortable and streamlined, but can stand out and compliment your outfit. The case depth is quite thin, giving the watch a low profile on the wrist. This helps to prevent unwanted knocks and scrapes to the watch.

Customer from Amazon:
"For a watch at this price I found the quality to be that of a brand that costs several times more. From the appearance, I was astonished at the craftsmanship and found the front and back aesthetics to be visually pleasing. I personally like the small dial design compared to watches nowadays that seem to have a big dial. It's comfortable to wear and isn't weighty at all. The design is not glaringly flashy, simple, quiet, and elegant. So my exactly my style. I'm super impressed with this watch!"
