About this project
What is PetPhone?
Pets also enjoy certain music. Music can provide a state of calm for your pets during stressful situations or as a source of entertainment under normal situations.Many attentive owners have noticed that soothing music can help to relax away their pets’ anxiety during thunderstorms, fireworks, vacuuming or visits from unusual guests. Traveling and crowded places can also be a source of stress for your pets.
But many times you don't want to listen to the same music for example, while driving, watching TV, on the phone, guests at your place etc. It is also not possible to keep the music on when you are walking/running outside with your dog, at a wedding/party or when traveling especially by public transportation.
The anatomy of the dog and cat ear differs from that of the human ear. Their ear canals are ‘L’ shaped and are sensitive to certain sounds. This is why regular headphones should not be used for our pets. PetPhone is specially designed for pets and has lower volume settings which are more compatible for the animal ear.
PetPhone is the world’s first personal music player designed especially for pets. PetPhone avoids high volumes that can damage their hearing. PetPhone provides your pet with a customized playlist of music, allowing you the freedom to carry on with your routine activities such as watching television, talking on the phone, listening to music or entertaining your friends.
PetPhone is compact so your pet can enjoy music anywhere. Whether walking outside, going for a run, or in the presence of noisy trains and buses, PetPhone adds a soothing aura of calmness to situations that can stress out your pet. Traveling can now be even a more pleasant experience for both you and your pet with the PetPhone.
The idea of the PetPhone stems from my own childhood experience. Growing up we had a dog named Tommy. He was extremely warm and loving and he quickly became my best friend. He used to curl up next to the radio which soon became one of his favorite spots in the house. Seeing a similar trend with other pets led us to develop this unique product. We truly believe that music is for EVERY soul.
We have completed the prototype. We believe in quality. PetPhone is made with quality material and has great finish. The pictures of PetPhone above are of real working product. We need your support to kickstart our manufacturing and spread the music to as many pets as we can.
FEATURES:
- It is designed to fit comfortably over your pet’s neck and in to the ears.
- Music player with 4 GB internal memory provides ample space for your pet’s favorite music. (Actual usable memory 3.75 GB)
- Sound frequency output is optimized for pets’ hearing. PetPhone eliminates extremely high sound frequencies (>20,000 Hz) disliked by dogs and cats.
- Maximum volume is limited to 75 db. It is considered a safe level even when you set the volume high by accident. PetPhone is specially designed so most pets can take it off with front leg if it feels uncomfortable.
- Earpiece is designed for dog and cat ears. They are bigger than human earpieces and the sound is directed downwards by specially designed openings on its underside.
- Earpieces are medical safe blue in color which is easier to identify. (All PetPhones will have blue earpieces)
- Sleep function will turn PetPhone off after a set time. Your pet will fall asleep faster and easier.
- Display on the PetPhone allows you to see the current music playing.
- Rechargeable battery provides hours of juice for your PetPhone.
- Easily add and remove songs by connecting PetPhone with your computer with provided USB wire.

Yes. There are many studies conducted on different animals including dogs that show that pets react to music. Calm and smooth music makes them relax and loud music like heavy metal music makes them anxious. You can easily search these studies on the internet.

Pets like soft and smooth music. For example instrumental music, smooth jazz, soft rock etc. Pets do not prefer loud music with heavy bass, for example heavy metal, punk, hard rock etc.

No. Animals especially dogs and cats have very sensitive hearing sense. Regular headphones are designed for human use and may damage your pets hearing.

Soothing music is usually helpful when you want your dog to rest, when your dog is left alone, or when anxiety or excitement in your dog is anticipated during thunderstorms, fireworks, the arrival of guests or while vacuuming. Other stressful situations for your pet are traveling and crowded places like weddings/parties/airports.

Medium size will fit most of the dogs. It will fit if the distance between your dog’s ears is between 6 cm to 14 cm (Approximately 2.5 to 5.5 inches).
It fits most medium size dogs, also fits larger small dog breads and smaller large dog breads. It depends on the size of the head more than the size of the dog.
Measurement Tip: Measure total width of your 4 fingers held close together (In adults, it is about 7 cm). When you put your hand on your pet’s forehead, you will have approximate size of your dog’s head. We are working on a small and large size PetPhone which will better fit large cats/small dogs and large dogs respectively.
