About this project
Kent Murphy is a project started by myself, comedian Nick Hall, and filmmaker Heath Benfield nearly 3 years ago. Through the years, we have spent countless hours developing Kent's character and writing many scripts to bring Kent to life. After years of perfecting Kent, we finally released the first Coach Kent Murphy YouTube video in November of last year. Since then, the webseries continues to gain momentum with an audience that is demanding more Kent Murphy.
Heath and I would love nothing more than to meet this demand and continue the legacy of Coach Kent. As a film making duo, we have used countless resources and funds to rent equipment, secure locations, pay actors, and produce the series. Unfortunately for the "paid actors", compensation is usually non-monetary. We want to thank these hard working people for their time, and eventually offer them the wages they deserve.
So here we are, asking you for help. We have reached a point where it is no longer financially possible for the two of us to continue the Kent Murphy series. The fees of renting equipment, and the inability to pay the people to help us produce these videos, have become more than we are able to afford.
Our goal is simple. At a minimum, we need to raise $5,000.00 in order to purchase our own production equipment and alleviate the need to rent camera and audio gear used in filming this series.
Beyond 5k, we have set some goals that we can achieve with additional funds:
$10,000 - At this plateau we can not only purchase our own A/V equipment, but we would also be able to revamp our post production studio. This will aid in the quality of the final product of each video in the series by allowing us access to a better computer and better editing software.
$15,000 - At this level, we would not only be able to overhaul our entire production value, but we would also be able to tackle some of our more ambitious ideas for the Kent Murphy Series. The videos up until now have featured mostly Kent by himself, and with brief appearances by his sidekick Ernie. This is due to the lack of funds available to pay for more actors. With these additional funds, it would open up our ability to add to the dynamic of the series in that regard.
$25,000 and beyond - We would be able to make the Kent Murphy Series a full time job. This would include a regular release of new videos, additional show supplements, and longer form episodes.
We cannot express the level of appreciation we have for the support we have received up to this point. Your belief in our passions and goals is what keeps us going. Please help us keep Kent Murphy alive by donating to our Kickstarter campaign.
Special thanks to Joe's Bar and Grille on 82nd Street in Indianapolis for letting us film our video in their establishment.

Risks and challenges
Risks and challenges come with the undertaking of nearly any project. To be successful, it is paramount to not only be aware of these challenges but face them with great fortitude.
Heath and I have pioneered many endeavors over the last ten years. Starting in college, we wrote scripts nearly every single week to help hone our skills. Much like now, in college funds were scarce. Creativity was always key in overcoming these obstacles. Whether we had to wrap a trash bag around a camera to keep it from getting wet when we wanted to film in the rain, or premiering a video for a film contest in black and white because we couldn't figure out how to get it on to a DVD in color as we shot it, we have always found a way to continue forward.
This project is no different. We have been working on this for nearly 3 years, and in that time have faced numerous challenges. We have been shut out of locations that we were promised on the day of filming, we have had to convince actors to work for next to nothing, and struggled to just find the time it takes to produce this series. Through it all, we've always achieved success in finishing what we started out to do, and we view the future of Kent Murphy in the same light. We intend to utilize the resources we acquire from this Kickstarter campaign to not only fund our future videos, but also to help us plan for what may stand in the way going forward.
Our vision and our passion is unwavering. With your help, our limits are only expanded.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
