About this project
Check out our infographic below for a full description of our pledges! We have some brand new pledges as well and will be adding more soon!
The Crane Collective is a group of people who just want to make films. Most of us are involved in the industry in one way or another, but narrative filmmaking is our true passion. We are making three films as a start: two stop motion short films and one live-action feature film. They are Battery Life, Those Who Watch Closely, and Not For The Faint Of Heart (respectively). We have some experience, equipment, skills, and connections, and are overflowing with ideas and passion. We just need a little money. We think that in 2013, one doesn’t need a fortune to make a film, just a community. One doesn’t need a million dollar idea to contribute to the world through art, just a good one and enough resourcefulness and dedication to see it through. Art is one of the human frontiers. And as young artists, we are asking you to invest in all our futures. We are giving our very lives (at least several years of them), please help us by giving what you can.

In a dystopian land where robots scavenge for parts, fuel and companionship a father works tirelessly to revive the woman he loves whom his son has never met. After being excommunicated from his community he decides to make one last effort to retrieve the final pieces he needs to reach the sky and save his love. With his son fast asleep he treks into the unknown where a great darkness awaits him, but will it be more powerful than the love for his family?

Some behind the scenes production stills. Our primary material is foam for the walls and a few other background props.
Some original sketches from Battery Life's protagonist and antagonist.
In addition to many other helping hands, the Crane Collective will be sharing the load of each film to ensure its success. Here's part 1 of "Crane Collective talks roles for Battery Life."
In the shell of a human city, reptiles are living and developing the remaining buildings into a steam powered world. A small group of creatures are following an ambitious, driven leader, Ardin, hoping to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the Komodo Dragons. When Chloe, a chameleon, becomes the latest recruit, plans that were stagnant move like gears into motion.
Here is the animatics with a NEW sample of the musical score!
Here's a 3D test of Ardin. We'll be making these sorts of renders as tests to help us build the puppets.

Risks and challenges
We're no strangers to the challenges and complications of video projects. Precisely because of these challenges we have decided to tackle these films as a team, one persons strengths shoring up another's weak point, one's resolve reminding the others.
