About this project
Tradewala (pronounced trade-wala) is a fast-paced satirical trading card game that sparks spirited conversation about monstrous and sometimes controversial social issues.
Think about it: In today’s digital world, we regularly dialogue about current events—like politics, unemployment, education and cyber crime—often with people behind screens on social media. So, instead of trading company stocks or commodities, what if we trade these controversial social issues face-to-face and in real time with family, friends, colleagues and even strangers over a crazy fun time?
In this addicting and adrenaline-packed game, players start with nine satirical cards representing eight different social issues and blindly trade with one another, simultaneously, until one player collects all nine cards of the same social issue. Now quick – sound the bell! But, wait! Strategy comes into play with how many cards to trade, which social issue to trade, with whom to trade and how quick and loud the players are. Don’t worry, we also offer a quiet method for those who need it. Cards of each social issue bear a points value to track each round. Consider playing to 475 points in the beginning. The winner is named the Tradewala! (A “wala” is considered an expert in their area of trade/skill.)
The theme of the cards was created to align with an international audience. In today’s world, there is no shortage of serious topics that impact people’s lives. We captured many critical social topics and added a layer of satirical humor to provide a renewed sense of awareness with a smile. We created a card game that satirizes the world we live in to generate conversation of unsolved social issues in a fun and frenzied environment.
Ever been with family around the holidays and sometimes find yourself bored out of your mind? Yes, that was us. We were sitting around and needed an outlet for interaction. That’s when it hit us and we created a game that would be interactive, high energy, and most of all fun. Guess what? It worked. It worked really well so we played it with different groups of friends and loved what we saw. People were excited, became quickly engaged, they socialized easily, and Tradewala became an outlet to unite family, friends, and even strangers.
You may be asking, “what’s up with the bull and bear on our design?”. The bull and bear mascots represent the commonly used terms of bull and bear markets or trading methods in the exchange trading world. They are also important symbols of our hometown sport teams in Chicago, Illinois.
If we’re able to hit our goal, get this game into production and share it with all of you, then we are hoping we can do more. Social outreach is a big part of what we stand for at Tradewala in light of the social issues we face around the world. We have partnered with Bookwallah to create libraries around the globe to bring the magic of storybooks to orphans and children of trauma so their sense of possibility, hope, and imagination can come to life.
All pledges from Kickstarter will be used to finalize our product and fund the first large production order. However, once our Kickstarter campaign is over, we are committed to donating a portion of future sale proceeds to Bookwallah.
We know you will love this game as much as we do and we appreciate your backing to make this game a reality!

Risks and challenges
Tradewala is ready for the international stage. We’ve funded this project ourselves—out-of-pocket. Our printing and fulfillment partners are ready and waiting. Now, it’s time for the final step: raising enough funds to produce game sets for your table at home. The only way this is possible is through your generous support. We just need your backing to introduce Tradewala to the world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
