My name is Eitan. I'm a musician based in New York City. I've spent my whole life studying music, playing with people around the world, doing many mysterious gigs, and figuring out what on earth music means to me and how I could produce music that will be inspired and personal.
It's been a very hard process but I am nearing the end of putting out a 12-track album. I encourage you to check out these excerpts before keeping on reading:
01 8Ball City
06 Toy Soldiers
My Idea was to create music that has no particular style or genre. Something eclectic and broad that can take you to many different places..up to you! Conceptually, I wanted to combine the real, rough world - the day to day struggle - and the imaginary world we create in our heads - dreams, nightmares and fantasies. I wanted to merge the modern and the fantastic: images of utopia, dystopia, and futurism, with images of old forgotten days, vast landscapes and creatures. The music is at once influenced by technology (digital soundscapes, video game music, chiptune), ancient times, the far future, right now (2018) and many of my favorite musical artists such as: Stevie Wonder, Bach, Gentle Giant, Chick Corea, Chicago, Kevin and Doobie Powell, Art Tatum, Avishai Cohen, Avner Kenner and Yoni Rechter, Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Herbie Hancock, Robert Glasper, Pat Metheny, Paul Simon, Kaveret, Eminem, Alan Menken, Max Martin, Michael Brecker, Cory Henry, Maxo, Knower and many many others.
Back in 2012, fresh out of Berklee College of Music, I was already really excited about this album! I was ready to take over the world with my new music nerd concepts :) - then, life hit, and for reasons unknown to man, i'm still working on this very album. In 2014 I started a band named Kenner with a very dedicated group of local musicians - friends - based in NYC. My time playing live with them was super informative, helping me redefine and reinvent the ideas I wanted to express through music. After playing with the band for a while I decided to focus solely on recording this stuff. I spent years making many mistakes and learning the hard process of putting out an album independently. Here's some old stuff I did with Kenner:
The album was recorded in 2016-17 at Riro Muzik and Black Lodge Studio in Brooklyn, NY and at Gil Feldman's Studio in Israel. I gathered some of my best friends who are also the best musicians I know, they are: David Frazier Jr., Noam Israeli, Diego Juaqin Ramierz - Drums Tamir Shmerling - Bass Andrew Whitbeck - Guitar and Bass Nitzan Bar - Guitar Clay Lyons, Jonathan Greenstine - saxophones ,and Wayne Tucker - Trumpet. I also got a chance to bring in two guest masters: Jamey Haddad (Paul Simon, Yo Yo Ma, Herbie Hancock) - Percussion and Tamer Pinerbasi (New York Gypsy All-stars) - Qanun.
when, where, why?
8Ball City is set to come out in Summer, 2018. There are two music videos in the making as well.
This crowdsourcing campaign allows for me, the "artist", to connect directly with you, the listener/friend. :) If you find value in the music you have just heard, there are plenty of ways you could help, and in return get things that might interest you. so far I've spent money on paying the musicians, studio time, hiring equipment, hiring video people, mixing, and hiring art people. In order to finish the album, I am going to spend money on mastering, video editing, coloring and effects, designing, printing, promoting and distributing. Since there is no label standing behind this project, I will hire people who can send it to magazines for reviews, radio stations, promoters etc. This is where your money will go, if you so kindly choose to support the album. As much as I enjoyed creating this music, I would really like for it to reach potential listeners. this would be made possible with your help.
Thank you <3
