From Robert Fantinatto and Jason Amm, the Director/Producer team behind the acclaimed modular synthesizer documentary, I Dream Of Wires, comes a new documentary feature: Electronic Voyager.

In association with the Bob Moog Foundation, we aim to create a definitive and personal documentary about the life of iconic synthesizer pioneer, Bob Moog (1934 - 2005).

Through the eyes of Moog's own daughter, Michelle Moog-Koussa - also a dedicated Moog archivist and historian - we want to give viewers an insight into the man behind the iconic Moog brand.

Electronic Voyager will document a special personal journey for Michelle, retracing her father’s iconic story. This will be a fun and revealing road trip, taking Michelle from Queens NY, where Bob spent his formative years, to Asheville NC, where Bob eventually settled, and where the company that he founded still thrives to this day. Additionally we'll be making important stops in places like Trumansburg, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, and London UK - visiting the places and meeting the people who were a part of Moog's history

Through Michelle’s deep personal connection and dedication to her father’s legacy, and with exclusive access to unseen family photos and rare historical artifacts from the Bob Moog Foundation Archives, Electronic Voyager opens a window for the outside world to better understand the man behind the legendary Moog synthesizer.

We've been working closely with Michelle Moog-Koussa for several months to develop Electronic Voyager's concept, and to compile a definitive list of people we want to speak to, places that we want to visit, and archival footage that we hope to unearth and license. The list is long, and our plans are ambitious - we are passionate about bringing this film to life and doing justice to Bob Moog's seminal and fascinating story.

We want to make sure we secure the budget to cover all of the travel costs, hire the best crew, and license all of the crucial archival images, footage and music we need to do this story justice. We are turning to Kickstarter - a direct link to Bob Moog's friends, admirers and fans - to help us get to work on this important documentary as soon as possible!

To the world, Bob Moog was known as the father of the synthesizer, but to Michelle Moog-Koussa, he was simply 'dad.'

With Michelle Moog-Koussa as our guide, we are in a very fortunate position to tell Bob Moog's story in a new and profound way, and with a uniquely personal touch. Bob’s friends, associates and admirers open up when they speak to Michelle about her father, leading to candid, revealing and joyous stories and insights about Bob Moog.

The recent, tragic passing of Bob Moog's close friend and important collaborator, Keith Emerson - perhaps the most iconic Moog keyboardist - was just another reminder of how important it is to document Bob Moog's crucial chapter in the history of electronic music, NOW

We've already begun reaching out to potential interview subjects for Electronic Voyager, and we're pleased to confirm the following people who have expressed their willingness to share their stories and thoughts about Bob Moog and his legendary synthesizers.

This is just a start - we’ll be confirming plenty more interviews over the coming months!

Iconic Moog musicians: Rick Wakeman (Yes), Gary Numan, Larry Fast (Synergy, Peter Gabriel), Gershon Kingsley (First Moog Quartet, “Popcorn”), Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff (TONTO’s Expanding Head Band, Stevie Wonder), Roger Powell (Utopia), Patrick Moraz (The Moody Blues, Yes), Steve Porcaro (Toto).

Early electronic music pioneers: Herb Deutsch, Morton Subotnick, Bernie Krause (Beaver & Krause, Moog modular session musician - George Harrison, The Doors), Joel Chadabe, David Borden (Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Company).

Contemporary Moog musicians: Moby, Adrian Utley (Portishead, Moog Ensemble).

Friends and music industry contemporaries: Dave Smith (Sequential Circuits), Tom Oberheim, Roger Linn, Dave Rossum (E-mu), Mark Vail (Keyboard Magazine), David Mash (Berkelee College of Music), Dominic Milano (Keyboard Magazine), Wayne Kirby (University of North Carolina - Asheville).

Session musicians, composers, technicians: Patrick Gleeson (Herbie Hancock, film composer), Greg Phillenganes (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson), Edd Kalehoff (tv/film composer), Michael Boddicker (Michael Jackson, film composer), Will Alexander (Keith Emerson’s synth tech).

Moog employees/collaborators: Bill Hemsath, David VanKoevering, Tom Rhea, Roger Luther, Greg Hockman, Tom Gullo, Dale Ong.

The name evokes a revolutionary new sound and pinpoints an iconic era in the evolution of music. A true American innovator, Dr. Robert Moog is arguably the most important figure in the history of electronic music, with his invention of the now legendary Moog synthesizer.

Electronic Voyager takes us on a sonic journey into the often unpredictable life and stunning brilliance of Bob Moog, a man who ‘fell backwards on a banana peel’ into the music instrument business, as well as the psychedelic world of the 1960s music scene. Bob unwittingly revolutionized the face of music, and birthed an enduring industry.

We’ve set a fundraising goal of $125,000 CAD (approx $98,600 USD / €87,800 EUR), enough to get us well on our way with filming and covering our additional research/pre-production costs.

Electronic Voyager is being produced in association with the Bob Moog Foundation, with a portion of the film's proceeds going to the foundation. The Bob Moog Foundation, a small 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, carries Bob's pioneering legacy forward to future generations. Our mission, to ignite creativity at the intersection of music, science, history and innovation, is accomplished through three programs. We provide hands-on opportunities for children and adults to explore the science of sound through Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool and the preservation of Bob Moog’s archives and musical inventions, which will converge in a future interactive museum, or Moogseum, online and in Asheville, NC.

Become an AMBASSADOR of The Bob Moog Foundation's "Dr. Bob's SoundSchool" program.

Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, the hallmark educational project of the Bob Moog Foundation, is an innovative, experiential 10-week curriculum that teaches second-grade students the physics of sound using both acoustic and electronic musical instruments including the theremin, and technological tools, like oscilloscopes. The information taught through the musical instruments is supplemented by custom educational materials developed by the BMF educational team.

As an ambassador of Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, you will receive our “Electronic Voyager - The Bob Moog Foundation edition” 2-disc DigiBook, inscribed with a hand-written message of thanks from the BMF's Executive Director, Michelle Moog-Koussa, and some personal notes on how your contributions to the BMF help facilitate Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool's ongoing success.
