WarSheep was originally conceived, written, and premiered at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center as part of the 2011 National Puppetry Conference. It was produced in a chaotic whirlwind, with less than a week and zero budget, and performed twice.
We want to do it better.
We're reviving the show in September at the Puppet Showplace Theatre in Brookline, MA. As part of that production, we want to do a full film shoot, with three cameras, in front of a live audience.
We already have the cast and crew lined up. We're pulling together a ridiculous amount of professional talent and equipment. The venue is secured, the date is set. One way or another, this project is going to happen.
We just don't want to go broke doing it.
We need funds to pay for Katie to fly from Portland, for Jones to drive from Virginia, for all sorts of people to zip to Boston from New York. We need to pay for a weekend of feeding a small crew while we rehearse and plan shots and perform and edit. We'll have unforeseen equipment needs, we need materials for building new props, we've shipped the sheep across country a couple times by September, and who knows what else -- we're combining live theater with a multi-camera film shoot. Disaster is not so much an "if" as a "when".
If you help, we'll give you treats.
Button sets. Original props. Hand-made toy theater editions of the show. Supporting WarSheep is almost like shopping some demented Etsy store. If you have any questions about any of the rewards, please let us know; we'll update this page with more images as we get closer to the deadline.
See the show, make a pledge.
We certainly wouldn't ask you to donate without being able to see how much you like the show. You can see the production from the O'Neill by following this link:
Or watch it on YouTube, if you are more inclined:
Spread the word.
Every dollar helps. And even if you can't give a lot, you can still help by spreading the link to this page far and wide. Spam your family! Annoy your friends! See how many people you can get to unfollow you on Twitter! We can't promise you a special reward if you drive donors here in droves, but we won't NOT promise you a special reward, either.
Seriously. Thank you. Thank you for supporting us. It means a lot.
-Jones, Katie, Brad, Tim, & all the WarSheep peeps.
