About this project
Japanese video game soundtracks are unique and different from anything we've heard in games in North America. There are games such as Tekken, Beatmania, and Street Fighter which have cool sounding synthesizers, catchy melodies, and great club beats. Then there is the music of the Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy franchises and Super Mario Galaxy which give off a grand feeling of adventure and excitement through powerful orchestration. The music of Japanese game composers is surely to get anyone's attention.
Unfortunately, their music doesn't get much appraisal in North America. Our games tend to gear towards more atmospheric music than melody driven soundtracks. On top of that, importing a game soundtrack from Japan is costly.
IMPORTED is an attempt to bring their music to North America. There are already about 10 composers on-board. They have agreed to all the rules and requests, and are working on their compositions as I write this. For the sake of their privacy, I cannot release their names. But around mid-May, their names will be revealed. My friend and I are planning this album together. He is the organizer and planner, and I'm more like the producer who is financing the project.
All money made from KIckstarter will go to producing professional CDs of the album at a distribution company in San Francisco, as well as pay the translators, album cover designers, and musicians.
This album is an attempt to bring Japanese music to all audiences in North America. If this album is a success, a second one will be made, with even more features and musicians. This is just the beginning, please help Kickstart a mini revolution in the music industry!
Risks and challenges
Some composers may decide to back out at the last minute, due to work overflow. They are extremely busy people. If there are not enough composers to make a solid album, the project can be cancelled.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
