About

My name is Peter Wallis.  I am a visual artist from the Green mountains of Vermont.  I am working on a series of Children’s Books that explains the history and origin behind Idioms, Phrases and Metaphors.  Working with both younger students and students learning English I came up with an idea for a series of Children’s Books that explains the origins of common idioms, phrases and metaphors.   It is a great educational tool and also is a fun book that both adults and children can learn from.

For example:

In medieval Europe both Cats and Dogs were not allowed indoors.  Often times they would sleep in the hay roofs of homes, when it would rain the hay roofs would loosen up and cats and dogs would fall from the ceiling.  Thus the meaning of “Raining Cats and Dogs” was born.

My overall goal is to publish this first book and have the funding, studio space and the time to complete all three books in the series.  This is an informative read for adults and children and a great teaching tool for anyone learning English idioms, phrases and metaphors.
