About this project
Grand theft pizza delivery is a 2D Open-world driving game with comedy characters, Innovative game-play and quirky graphics. We aim to make the game a short and sweet experience.
The game revolves around a pizza delivery guy called Bob. He works at speedy Joe's pizza. Don't let this fool you though, The game isn't all about delivering pizzas. There is a lot of things you have to do in the game.
We are trying to be creative with the gameplay. Instead of just driving, there will be many activities such as stealth, awesome chases. Mini-games, drunk-driving and some things we will be keeping quiet about.
If we raise £500, we will release the jet rocket DLC. This DLC is like a game mode +. The rocket will be much faster than the pizza van. However, You only have one life, and die if you crash. (Unlike the invincible pizza van...). This DLC is perfect for experienced speedrunners.
We now have a selection of add-ons to add for your pledge. There are some cool things to show of your pledge. Any Backer can add to their pledge for these add-ons.
Who we are
The game is made by two thirteen-year-old students. We know our way around game design but this will be the first time we make a game commercially. We are not really trying to make large profits from this game. Just trying to dive into the world of game design. Each of us has our own unique strengths. We work well as a team and can make a well rounded game.
For stretch goals, we want to try and make the game better. For this, we are adding things like more missions and better graphics. After this, we will try and bring the game to as many people as possible. Please answer this poll so we can prioritize port stretch goals.
Where do the funds go?
If you are wondering what the main costs of small 2D game development are, It is licenses. Most of the costs go to licences for software. Here is a pie (chart) to help you.
We are using the construct 2 game engine. We have only just started to port the current build to this engine. We previously used a very old game engine, hence the low definition graphics you see in the video. The new game engine has many new features which we are excited to use.
Get the word out
Please like us on facebook. We want to get momentum in order to succeed in the kickstarter. We will put the game on steam greenlight if we get funded. This is to try and get the game on steam, which would be preferable. If not, we have several other methods of distribution in mind.
Risks and challenges
Our main problem will be getting the game distributed. There are options other than greenlight but we know that most people prefer steam. We will make a greenlight page if we are successfully funded. We just need you to support us there.
The only other thing is if there are any problems while developing. This will only cause delays in the games release. We hope things will be smooth throughout development of the game. Hopefully...Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We plan to release the game on PC, mac and linux. We will post stretch goals later on to port the game to other platforms (Wii U, Android, iOS, OUYA). If you want to have your say in how to prioritize the stretch goals, answer this questionnaire.
Grand Theft Pizza Delivery is a very adaptable game. The initial £300 was the bare minimum to release the game in a state we'd be proud of. Us, ourselves will probably need to pay part of the development costs of the game, but as students with little money we need to keep that amount as small as possible.
Here is a breakdown of funds for the current stretch goals reached:
£160 - Construct 2 costs.
£50 - Graphic editor costs (Currently done in MS Paint!!!)
£170 - Kickstarter fees, rewards and taxes.
£100 - Music Editor and soundtrack development costs.
£70 - Steam Greenlight entry fee.
If we reach the £800 Stretch goal, we would need:
£25 - Google developers license.
£150 - Ouya console.
£25 - Fixing my stock android development phone.
£30 - More kickstarter fees.
You can see how much game development costs. It all adds up to more than you think.
