What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

About

Now that we have a Utility Patent and a Design Patent for the Drop N Step, it's time to move on into the market place.  We are raising funds to successfully complete the Make/100 campaign.  Since we are using a local design and manufacturing company to CNC and hand make the "100" its a little more costly than sending it overseas.  These hand made in- cabinet step stools are designed for longevity and functionality.  Anyone who needs a couple more steps up to reach the faucet, sink, or cabinet can benefit from the Drop N Step.

It's simple,

With the cost of materials (wood, bolts, hardware, paint) and

With the cost of professional woodworkers for assembly (CNC router time, programmer time, engineer time, other labor cost) and

With the cost of marketing (Kickstarter, Facebook, Google)

This hand made, made in the U.S.A., one of a kind step stool will cost more than that plastic one you can get at the box stores.  I'm asking you to take that next step and help me bring this product to your home. Be a part of LIMITED EDITION - Make/100 - Drop N Step step stool campaign.

Risks and challenges

We have done most of the heavy lifting, the patent process, prototyping, and testing. We have a local company ready to take an order for manufacturing the Make/100 series step stools. The simplicity of the design and the proximity to manufacturing should keep us on time and on budget for delivery.
