I am a visual artist and my current project is a comic book inspired by recent trips to Paris and my love of mod 1960's culture.
I am drawing, writing and printing an original comic book about a female spy in Paris on a quest for a mystical piece of music. It's twenty-five pages of original drawings. The drawings are inspired by European comics of the late 1960's.
I have finished over 100 drawings. My goals are to finish the drawings, prepare them for production, create 100 limited edition comic books. I plan on using the kickstarter funds to pay for the cost of getting the art camera ready for print, layout and the final printing costs of the comic book.
Risks and challenges
1. The biggest challenges I face are:
getting the art camera ready for production. I need to hire someone who can assist me with this process. It's going to be a struggle to get the art camera ready.
2. Finishing the comic by the beginning of 2013 is going to be a challenge because I'm a full time teacher, and I'm just completing the final drawings. Being that this is my first comic, I see how long the process is when it's all done by one person. I believe I will get the drawings into editing and production by Jan. 2013. My new goals are: art ready for camera by Jan 2013,; March 2013: clean up files, and work on layout, print comic by Spring/early summer 2013.
2. I need funding for the cost of printing the comic, and marketing the comic for independent distribution. These are two things I have never done before, but I am confident that I can research how to get this started and finished.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
