The Kickstarter campaign has ended,
but the journey has only just begun!
We made it!
I want to extend a personal “Thank You” to each and every one of our donors.
You helped us reach our goal, and because of your support this story is going to be told.
To anyone who missed the campaign and would like to show their support the project, you can still get involved. Please visit www.46ersdoc.com to learn more.
The Kickstarter campaign is over, but the journey has only just begun.
Though we have only just begun our hike up this “mountain”, we are thrilled about this project and the adventure ahead. To keep up-to-date on the progress of the production, please “like” the project on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ConqueringTheAdirondacks
From everyone here at Arche Productions,
Thank you for joining with us in bringing this vision to life!

What is this project about?
What draws people to the High Peaks of the Adirondacks? What is it about these mountains that attracts people from many different walks of life to take on the challenge? This documentary seeks to uncover answers to these questions and more.
Perhaps, it is the drive to accomplish a goal, to complete a challenge, or to come closer to nature. Perhaps, it is to escape the drawl of everyday life and live on the adventurous edge of the world.
This documentary is not just about mountains or history or hiking. It is about the average people who become adventurous explorers tracking down paths hidden behind the bush. It's about the quest for something beyond everyday life.
We have received a letter of interest from Mountain Lake PBS in Plattsburgh, New York to air the documentary. Their viewing area extends throughout upstate NY, into Vermont, and Quebec. There are possibilities to get the documentary on other stations as well.
In order to capture interviews, activities, and the sheer beauty of the region, we need to upgrade our gear. We need lightweight video recording equipment which can capture beautiful HD images in a wide range of conditions (low light, overexposed lighting).
However, none of this can happen, if we can’t get the funding to launch this production. Please help this project become a reality and pledge your support on the right! We'll send you something in return.

Risks and challenges
This project presents several major challenges.
One of which is the subject matter itself. This isn't a simple "history of" documentary with a long list of facts and figures. While there will be plenty of historical facts and statistical figures in the film, the real heart of the story comes from the people who hike these mountains. Interviews will be critical to this aspect of production. Anyone who's done interviews knows that you never know what to expect when working with people who may or may not be used to talking in front of a camera. - That said, I've been told I have a very easy mannerism, and people tend to enjoy telling stories about themselves and what they're passionate about. The other benefit to the gear we're planning to get is that it is small, so it's not intrusive or intimidating to the interviewees.
Another major challenge to this project will be the sheer scale of it. We will be shooting all over a massive region, (over 6 million acres of ADK wilderness!) and we will only have one summer to complete our principle photography. We will be traveling with a film crew to some very remote locations, and in some instances will need special gear. Weather conditions can ruin a shot, or make it beautiful. This part will take immense patience. Fortunately, I'm a big fan of the outdoors, being an Eagle Scout, so I have no problem camping out at a spot for 3 days to get "that perfect shot." My experience in film school has helped me to master the technical aspects of production. When the elements are all in place, I'll be able to "capture the moment" so you can relive it in the documentary.
A final challenge to this production will be storage. This project will require a lot of storage and file management. Again, editing for 5 years has helped me to become very proficient at file management. Part of the funds from this campaign will go to getting reliable, durable hard drive storage to keep all of the hard work mentioned in the last paragraph safe :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
