WHO IS BUCKMINSTER FULLER?
He is the Grandfather of the modern Green movement, and gave us the world's first "green" automobile… in 1933! He invented the Geodesic Dome, the world's largest self supporting structure, and revolutionized the practice of architecture worldwide by incorporating sustainability into his designs.
He was the first to say: "there IS enough for everyone everywhere in the world", and to teach us to think critically about how to create a sustainable future. His life demonstrated the power that a single individual has to change the world. It's time to put his "Critical Path" message out front again. Help us introduce him to a new generation!
In 1927 R. Buckminster Fuller had lost his four year old daughter, Alexandra, to Polio, lost his job, and nearly everything else. He experienced a level of desperation few of us will ever know, ultimately deciding to throw himself off a cliff and end his life. However, literally seconds before flinging himself over the edge, he had an intense mystical experience: awakening from it, he realized that he could not justify killing himself until he had done everything he could do to see what one person could contribute to the betterment of humanity... and for the next fifty years that's exactly what he did.
The Last Dymaxion is his story.
"It's about time! We've been waiting for a new perspective on Bucky and nothing should get in the way of this happening. Back Noel and DO IT!" Bill Cosby, Comedian
WE WORE OUT SHOES, SLEPT IN CARS AND BURNT UP 2 CAMERAS!
In pursuit of the full story of R. Buckminster Fuller's life and accomplishments, we went to England, Spain, and crisscrossed the U.S., talking to everyone from Bill Cosby and Norman Foster, to Jay Leno and Jay Baldwin about the impact of the legendary futurist on their lives, their professions, and the fate of the planet. We filmed the restoration of his entire Dymaxion* invention series: "The Dymaxion Car", "The Dymaxion House" and "The Geodesic Dome".
We had a $6,000 camera die during filming, and another stolen out of a locked car trunk with a VERY important interview still in it! We slept in rental cars in Spain and England, and ate at McDonald's (yuk!) more times than we'd like to think. We were bitten by dogs, and stranded in the boonies! All a small price to pay (over $100,000 out of pocket actually) to bring you, your kin and the world at large, the story of R. Buckminster Fuller: the Grandfather of the Green movement!
*Dymaxion means: "Dynamic maximum tension" (the key to a sustainable future)
OUR GOAL FOR THE FILM
Up to this point, we have focused on getting input and feedback by making presentations around the country (including Yale University!) and screening rough-cut footage. We've been inspired and energized by the intensely positive reactions we've received, and the incredibly supportive responses we've gotten from the many wonderful people we've managed to include in the process of developing the film. Now, it's time to take that process to the next level and finish it!
Quite simply put, we want to deliver the message of R. Buckminster Fuller to as wide an audience as possible with our film. When PBS International contacted us and said that "we want to distribute the film" it took our breath away, we knew that the opportunity to realize that goal was within our grasp once we finished the film.
The Last Dymaxion is a film with a universal message of hope and possibility, taking place in the world of sustainability but carrying over into all facets of life. We think it is a story that will inspire those who see it to realize that they too can change the world.

Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. Every month tens of thousands of amazing people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, art, film, technology, design, food, and other creative fields. Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires!
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON’T REACH OUR GOAL
If we don't raise our goal, we don't get
anything. Donors pledge the amounts, but don't actually pay until the
goal is reached and the funding deadline has passed. We want to avoid
this so please spread the word. Everything helps!
When we meet our goal, we will green-light our animation team into wizardry (already planned out), finish the post-production editing, and then send you the DVD's and merchandise ASAP! More importantly, we will be able to sponsor the distribution of a full featured sustainability curriculum based on Bucky's principles to over 1,000 high schools across the U.S.
Developed by our film director Noel Murphy, along with partners from Yale, Harvard and Stanford universities, this tool kit for learning takes sustainability teaching to the next level: right now 83% of American High Schools Sustainability Curriculum teaches recycling as the only deliverable. We KNOW these young people can and will design our Green future and we mustn't lower the bar any longer! Buckminster Fuller left us all a legacy begging to be shared with them!
"Noel Murphy's film is important to sustainability education. People act when that are touched with hope for the future and "The Last Dymaxion" Delivers!" Patrick Bellew, Professor of Sustainable Design, Yale University
MEET OUR DIRECTOR AS HE SPEAKS AT YALE UNIVERSITY...
"Your Director Noel Murphy is offering a 21st century opportunity to meet Bucky Fuller in the freshest way. It couldn't be more important to tap into Buckminster Fuller's legacy and he will with your Kickstarter backing". Lynne Twist, Aide to Mother Theresa and Author of "The Soul of Money."
HOW THIS BEGAN: Our film's Director, Noel Murphy, wrote, produced and and performed a one-man show called Buckminster Fuller LIVE!. He was so moved by the extraordinary life of Buckminster Fuller that he traveled the world on a two-year trek, filming interviews with Bucky's daughter, collaborators, friends and students. Bucky was possibly the greatest American genius of the last 100 years.

‘The Last Dymaxion’ rough cut was enlightening and amusing. This first look at ‘Bucky’ in 20 years clears up common misperceptions; it follows his life arc from lost soul to visionary of eternal truths, and, bottom line, is moving and inspiring, It's going to be a magnificent film when it is finished!
