About this project
The MALICE web series concerns Alice Turner’s journey of discovery, loss, and resilience against a backdrop of the fantastic and macabre. With mystery, humor, and horror, MALICE is tightly-written and briskly-paced with a creative offbeat sensibility that embraces many genres. MALICE is more than just a drama—it’s a visual heroic poem.
With your help, the critically-acclaimed MALICE the Web Series will continue Alice’s supernatural adventure and existential quest in:
MALICE: Metamorphosis is the next storyline in the MALICE universe, and takes place a year after Alice survived her confrontation with the beast beneath her home. She saved her mom and sister, but lost her warrior dad. Trying to live a normal life in the small town that knows her as “the girl who blows things up,” Alice is haunted by dark dreams of an epic medieval battle and the armored specter of her dead father. Are her nightmares harbingers of an impending disaster that threatens the town? Or is Alice simply going mad as the line between fantasy and reality blurs? As she makes new friends and confronts new enemies, this story will keep you guessing her fate until the very last minute.
Hang on and join us for another Alice journey. It’s going to be a hell of a ride!

Everybody within the sound of my voice should watch MALICE. It's a fantastic web series.” —IndieIntertube podcast
Producing MALICE: Metamorphosis
So far, the MALICE web series has been produced much more on love than money. It’s been the internet version of “Hey kids, let’s put on a show!” As a result, our crew and expenditure is minimal. This is a non-union, non-SAG production created on the smallest scale imaginable in Falls Church, Virginia. Yet MALICE does not, and never will, look low-budget.
“I'm actually shocked this is a web series, because the quality is just amazing. …it sucks you in from the get go and makes you want more.” —RogueCinema.com
Alice Turner will once again be played by the remarkable (Brittany Martz). (Rebekkah Johnson) is returning to play Alice’s sassy older sister, Abbey. (Mark Hyde) will be returning (in dreams) as Dad/Nate Turner. (Leanna Chamish) will reprise Mom/Jesse, with (Matthew Gulbranson) as Jed Spry. Stay tuned for surprise cast additions still pending!
Most of our creative and dedicated crew will be back to paint and pin, light and listen, organize and orchestrate.
All that’s missing is YOU!
Please help us bring MALICE: Metamorphosis to little screens around the world!
Visual storytelling is always an expensive endeavor, especially when the story is visual effects-heavy like MALICE. We managed to complete the first two seasons with Kickstarter help ($10,000) to finish the show, and we hope our friends old and new will consider participating in this new chapter of Alice’s story.
Regardless of all the ingenuity, begging, borrowing, and good old guerrilla film production we’ve utilized, MALICE is produced at a huge loss because it is a massive labor of love. We do this because we sincerely think we’re making something special. If you watched the first series you know that you can see every dollar on screen. Our goal is to try to grow MALICE into something much larger, and we offer the chance to be a vital part of doing so.
Where will your donation go?
Here is a general breakdown of anticipated expenses, based on Seasons One and Two. You can see why we need your help:
Why are we asking for so little?
Honestly, we're worried we won’t even make this goal. We are not VERONICA MARS or VIDEO GAME HIGH SCHOOL. Yet.
We know MALICE is a great show. Just watch it; it outshines most web series with far greater budgets. But our audience is still very small, so a larger goal (closer to more sensible budgets of $50,000 and up) is probably just unrealistic. We love this story too much to let it fade away half-told, but without at least some funding, we will not be able to produce MALICE: Metamorphosis. Sadly, it’s that simple.
How Kickstarter works
You pledge an amount and choose a reward from the list on the right. At the end of our 30-day Kickstarter campaign, if the combined total of all pledges for our project meets our $12,000 goal, then the credit cards of those who pledge are charged, and we receive the funds to start shooting. Rewards are distributed as we go along, depending on the nature of the award.
If we don't meet our goal, then the money is not withdrawn from your account, no rewards are provided, and MALICE fades into fond memory.
But let’s not be gloomy! When we exceed our $12,000 goal, all extra funds will be used to make the series shine even brighter—you’ll continue to see every penny on the screen. Keep pledging. Believe me, every little bit will make a profound difference. MALICE is still a labor of love made on borrowed time; so your help to get us the rest of the way—and to survive the process—is priceless!
The possibility of your Kickstarter pledge going to waste is minimal. You can be assured that your donation to MALICE’s future will be used to its fullest extent. In fact, we’re already under way: MALICE: Metamorphosis is completely scripted; many of the major roles are cast; props, costumes and set elements are designed and being created. Locations have been hunted for and secured. We have already shot a few scenes this summer and plan on completing many episodes by the end of the year. But all this progress will grind to a halt if this campaign is not successful.
So please check out Seasons One and Two. And then check out your wallet, and your dedication to advancing the timeless art of storytelling into new realms. There’s bound to be a reward on the right that tickles your fancy. Go on. Click that button. Donate. And accept our deepest thanks for helping fuel our “little engine that can.”
(Speaking of help, we’d be grateful for less tangible forms as well as your dollars. We think we’re creating something very remarkable here and hope you do too. Please share MALICE among your network of friends, however you please.)
(We’re also interested in working with larger entities. Send us a message if you are interested in a corporate donation or sponsorship.)
Increase your pledge by the cost of the desired add-on(s) below without changing your selected reward. After the end of the Kickstarter, you will be sent a survey in which you can specify which add-ons you wanted. Delivery dates will mirror the original reward dates posted to the right.
Do I need to add shipping/handling?
No unless we need to ship outside of the U.S. then simply ad $10 which should cover the cost of all add ons.

Risks and challenges
Being David against Goliath
Web series are an exciting new medium and a great opportunity to provide proof-of-concept for a story or show. They have blossomed in the past few years, but most storytellers are still searching for ways to make a living in the medium. However that conundrum is solved in the future, though, you can be sure that just as with all the old mediums, compelling storytelling will be the key.
If you’ve watched many web shows, you know that very few are as tightly-told, briskly-paced and riveting as MALICE—even with our tiny budget. Frankly, MALICE sells itself. It’s finding its way, and growing an audience in a media-saturated world where competition for attention is fierce and tangible profits continue to prove elusive.
Your faith in our “little engine” is appreciated, and will not be misplaced. You, and growing numbers of others, want to know what happens to Alice and her family. Alice’s journey is just beginning, and when we’re done, Alice from MALICE will be an iconic character for a generation. But only with your help.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
