About this project
The Sisterhood of Blood is a custom designed deck of poker sized playing cards, printed by The Expert Playing Card Company (EPCC).
The theme of this deck is based on London vampires from the Victorian era. As with my previous project, The Coven, this deck also features an all female cast of court cards. Each of them have a different story to tell, but together they become The Sisterhood of Blood.
My name is Kirk, I work as a graphic designer based in the UK and I’m a small time collector of playing cards. Last year, The Coven was successfully funded here on Kickstarter thanks to 793 amazing backers! It was an incredible process to see the cards come to life and to add them to my own collection. I’m very excited to show you these new designs. I truly hope you feel the same way about the deck and that you would like to support it by backing and sharing this campaign.
Features of the deck include:
- 12 custom all female court cards
All of the vampires are named and all have backstories
- 4 custom designed Aces
- 2 facing Jokers with the Raven created out of blood
- 1 double backer
- Custom Tuck-box with printing on the inside
- Custom seal (to be voted for by the backers)
- Printed by EPCC on their classic finish stock (same as The Coven)
Each of the vampires have names and backstories that help to bring these beautiful monsters alive. Along side this, each of the groups follow a theme, the Jacks have just fed, the Queens revel in their malice and the Kings immortality is coming to a close.
The Aces are all larger and custom designed.
The tweaked pips follow a standard position but are slightly smaller and the layout is condensed compared to a standard deck of cards.
Even though this is a custom deck I have tried to maintain all the standard features of a normal deck of cards, as I want this deck to be usable and easy to read. These features also include the hidden ones such as the one eyed Jacks and the suicide King.
As this is a 52Ravens deck it will have the Raven Jokers, but this time created from blood.
Each backer will receive a digital copy of the 28 page Sisterhood of Blood book. Inside are all the court card designs in larger detail, along with the vampires name and her short backstory. If we unlock the stretch goal, each backer will also receive a printed A6 booklet version. More details will be released if we reach that goal.
The Order of Ravens are a group of assassins that protect the innocent from the dangers that lurk in the shadows. This book provides its members with the knowledge of the vampires that serve The Sisterhood of Blood. Volume one delivers intelligence from London between the years 1850 and 1900.
I like to keep the project simple but I wanted to offer the printed version of the 28 page A6 book. As with the digital version I want to keep this as a gift from me to you, so I haven’t included this as an add-on to the cards but as a stretch goal. This printed version will unlock if we reach a funding total of £12,000.
I am based in the UK and this is why the funding goal and all pledges are in Great British Pounds, BUT all orders will be shipped from a US fulfilment company and all pledges include US shipping.
Please see below for a rough currency conversion (subject to fluctuation, Kickstarter will display the correct exchange rate when you pledge).

Part of my design process is to post prototype designs on the forum www.unitedcardists.com. I just want to thank all of the contributors from the forum for all your words of encouragement and your endless supply of helpful opinions. You are my Ravens, thank you!
I would just like to thank you for taking the time to look at our project, and to all those that pledge, you have no idea how much your support means.

Risks and challenges
The previous project, The Coven, did hit some delays in printing and this is why I have over compensated with the estimated delivery date. The delays were due to the Chinese new year and the backlog of orders at the factory, but throughout the process I kept the backers updated whenever I had news to ensure they all knew what was going on.
The estimated delivery date is just that, an estimate, so there is a chance of an early delivery, but as always I will keep you all up to date no matter what happens.
The only other thing to mention is that the visuals on screen may slightly vary from the final printed deck, but through the printed proofs I will make sure that we have a great looking deck.
