Hello everyone and welcome! In this 3 part video series, I will be showing you exactly how to setup and play Dungeon Crusade. From the very start, and into gameplay. I think it is paramount to show you for one, Dungeon Crusade is not a complex game, and second what I mean by "open world dungeon crawl board game". Part 2 will be on shortly. In forming Groovus Games Unlimited, I wanted this company to stand for 3 things that are paramount to me. Honesty, quality and quantity.
Honesty in the form of showing backers as much of the game as I can, being straightforward with what content is being presented.
If you notice to the side, there are "create a hero" packages. There is NO up-charge for this. This will never happen at Groovus Games Unlimited. Instead, I'm honored and thrilled to have backers use their creativity and imagination to give these heroes names and backstories, and have the backer's name on the hero card for their contribution to the game. You simply can't put a price tag on that. Quality and Quantity. Very rarely do you see these two things together, but with our first launch title, that is what we are striving to give our fellow gamers. The quantity you can clearly see below. The quality will come from the fairly huge development team that has been assembled for the Dungeon Crusade project. People from all around the world are committed, determined and focused on bringing this game to fruition for everyone to enjoy.
Lastly, with Groovus Games Unlimited, we don't believe in producing "exclusive" content with high price tags and in limited quantity. It's our belief that everyone should have a right to enjoy ALL of the content that is offered across the board equally at a great price point. The world's first open world dungeon crawl board game, Dungeon Crusade is a hybrid game inspired by two of the golden ages of gaming, which are board games and computer RPG's of years past. Built from the ground up for solo or co-op play.
Take control of 6 legendary heroes and their trusty fetch-hound, Albus, as they set out in a massive, open world dungeon to complete quests for villagers, find ancient treasure chests that may be empty, trapped or full of loot, pick locks on secret rooms, gain lifeforce, mine for minerals to craft powerful gems for their gear, find crates to smash open, plus new encounters every turn for the heroes to experience. Enjoy gifts from the villagers on celebration day, shop in the village, and gamble at the house of chance. Experience a "living dungeon" with the exclusive game mechanic the "patrol route system", where monsters move through the dungeon with unpredictable and random movement patterns. Battle minions who are attempting to raid the village, fight the champions who lurk in the chambers of the dungeon, and come face to face with the guardians of the dungeon, all while trying to clear the quest tables to achieve victory and save the village! So prepare thyself, hero, for a game of epic proportions where strategy, tactics and planning are a must. To win, pick a scenario from the scenario booklet or create your own scenario. After setting up the game as the scenario describes, the heroes goal is to clear the 3 quest tables, which will turn the elder globes upon the tables from red to a green status, indicating there is purity within the dungeon. When all 3 elder globes have a green status, the heroes have won that scenario, and saved the village!

The Avalon Adventure Board Game is played before you play Dungeon Crusade. The heroes must recover the 3 magical runes that are randomly placed around Avalon at the start of the game. Once they are recovered, proceed to the dungeon and shatter the curse on the dungeon doors. Complete mini quests and attribute tests, acquire gear and loot, fight monsters, get into trouble in the villages and much more. No two games are ever the same. So get ready heroes, to embark on a grand adventure across Avalon!
Shop at the village on celebration day, or send the hero’s fetch-hound, Albus, to the village to fetch items for the heroes while they are in the dungeon. Heal at the temple, recover essence at the inn, craft gems and buy gear at the blacksmith, visit the academy to level up or acquire new abilities, visit the bazaar to restock on potions and torches, and finally, gamble at the House of Chance. Yes...Dungeon Crusade has it's own gambling hall for the heroes! ;)

As of right now, there are 112 encounter cards and more are on the way. At the start of every game, you shuffle the encounter deck and deal out 40 cards at random. This forms the encounter deck. Every game, you will have no idea what encounters the heroes will have to deal with. Surprises, randomness and whimsical gameplay is at the heart of Dungeon Crusade.
Created and developed exclusively for Dungeon Crusade, the patrol route system is a true break-through game mechanic and system that will give the soloist and co-op gamers the concept of a "living dungeon." Creatures and monsters will have unpredictable movement causing them to roam freely throughout the dungeon, keeping the heroes always guessing where they will move next. Players will be forced to use strategy and tactics and plan their moves accordingly. You as the player, will never have to think for the monsters again.
Another exclusive to Dungeon Crusade is the House of Chance located in the northwest part of the village. On celebration day, heroes can visit the house of chance and gamble on 4 different games in a attempt to win gold to spend in the village, before heading back down into the dungeon. So put your gold on the table, grab a mug of ale, and get playing in the House of Chance!
In Tower Attack, the heroes must take the tower back from the evil skeleton army! Tower Attack is a dice pushing game where you have 3 attempts to match or exceed the numbers shown on the particular level the hero may be on. If a hero is unsuccessful, they are stuck on that level until it is beaten.
In Heroes vs. Monsters, the 3 heroes must defend the chapel of light against the advancing monsters. The heroes have action points that they can spend each turn to move and attack. If at least one monster makes it to the chapel of light, the heroes lose and must replay that level. There are 8 challenge cards with Heroes vs. Monsters, each challenge card becomes more difficult than the previous one.
Skull Jack is a simple form of Black Jack. Up to 3 heroes can play. Bet 200 gold per hand. On a win, win your bet back, plus an additional 200 gold. One of the artists will be designing an exclusive set of playing cards that has the Dungeon Crusade theme.
In the game, The Adventures on Bravely the Knight, join Bravely as he descends into a monster filled, trap riddled dungeon in a attempt to plunder the gold within. Any gold that Bravely recovers, the heroes receive! So pick up your sword and shield and join Bravely on a tiny, yet epic dungeon crawl!
Jesse Hansen - Besides being the art director for heroes and monsters, Jesse is the founder of Cornerstone Creative Studios. He has a team of artists who will be assisting him in the creation of the final monster and hero design for Dungeon Crusade. Below is something I created for the backers, and will hopefully catch on for other projects. Let me explain.
When I look at kickstarter projects, I would like a system to learn the game in a quick, easy and fun way. Now Dungeon Crusade may look very complex, and it isn't at all. I designed Dungeon Crusade to have a sense of familiarity to it, and be very accessible to players. I want to get them into the game quick, and have them having fun in no time.
This system you will see below, I believe will get you acclimated to Dungeon Crusade very quickly and easily, and you'll have a fun time reading it. No tiny text, or anything ambiguous. Just easy to follow "poster panels" that will hopefully excite you, and teach you a majority of the game.

Shipping charges will be calculated after the campaign ends. At Groovus Games Unlimited, we want backers to pay EXACT shipping and not a penny more. We will be working with the Pledge Manager for this process. Also, we have no way of telling how many stretch goals will be unlocked, and shipping may change based on this factor.
Risks and challenges
In pledging to a reward package for Dungeon Crusade, you acknowledge that the final look of the game, materials, game content and rewards are subject to change and will differ substantially from what is being presented within this Kickstarter project. This prototype game within Kickstarter, will be used as a baseline for all of the artists, illustrators and the 3D modeler involved to use their creativity, imagination and talent to create the final retail version of Dungeon Crusade. What you are viewing is the prototype game of Dungeon Crusade.
The prototype game looks very strong already, but the final version will be one of the most visually striking games for a fantasy/dungeon/adventure game that has been seen in recent years.
Other factors, of course, are production delays, shipping delays and customs delays, which are out of our control. However, the company we have partnered with, WinGo games, and our customs broker are very acclimated at handling things such as this, and the process should be smooth.
Lastly, I have put a ship date of Feb 2017, however, I do anticipate a much earlier date for this project to be final and ready to ship. A lot of the hard work has been completed already. Artists do not need to produce concept art. This has been established already within the prototype game. Hardcore playtesting is being conducted to debug the rules, clarify special abilities, line of sight rules, etc. My personal goal is to have this ready for Christmas 2016. Why?
