THE QUEST CONTINUES

Please help us to keep raising funds so that we can exceed our initial goal and cover our kickstarter/Amazon fees, pay some of the actors and crew we can't afford to pay, get extra equipment that we would dearly love to have, etc. Our budget is extremely tight so further funds will be an enormous help to us.
Any excess funds will be put toward much-needed post-production costs (editing, subtitles, color correction, sound mix etc)
That said, we are THRILLED to have reached our initial goal and are so thankful to all our supporters!!!!!

Hello old friends, new friends, and future friends!

We are making a short film and we need your involvement to make it happen!

We are shooting the film over two weeks in Cairo, Egypt, this June/July 2010, and we need to raise at least $10 000 to cover our production costs.
Any amount you care to donate, whether it’s $5 or $5000, will be an enormous help to us and we hope it will encourage you to feel part of our project and follow our progress.

WHAT THE FILM IS ABOUT
The film takes place in a working class neighborhood of Cairo where lives are intertwined, and where everybody knows each other’s business.
The story follows a thirteen year old boy called Fingo, who’s bravado on the street masks a sensitive nature. He is struggling to define himself and make sense of the world around him and how he fits into it.
When Said (his ex-con neighbor) dares him to find a way to hang lights between the buildings on his block in time for Ramadan (a difficult task that has never been done in his part of the neighborhood), Fingo takes it on as a personal quest.
“Ramadan” is his story of rising above the confines and mundane dilemmas of his life to reach for a personal victory, while attempting to light up his neighborhood.

WHAT WE HAVE
We have the script and we are extremely excited about it!
We have a strong vision of how we want to shoot the film, how we want it to look, and the impact of the film we’d like to achieve.
We have the location – we are shooting in a neighborhood in the heart of Cairo, Egypt where Ahmed grew up.
We are in the process of casting and are very excited about the actors we’ve found.
We have our eye on a few brilliant DP’s who we think will do an amazing job on this film and we are in the process of negotiating.
We have some of our crew and a support team to die for.
We have a very dedicated and inspired Director and Producer ☺.

WHAT YOUR MONEY WILL BE USED FOR
Your money will help us cover our production costs for the shoot. We want to do justice to the story by making the production values really wonderful. This means we need:
-to pay our amazing Director of Photography (aka cameraperson extraordinaire/visionary) who can help us achieve the look that we want and that the film deserves
-to pay for sound equipment rental and our skilled sound technician to give the film the audio it deserves
-to pay for rental of a great camera and equipment so that the Director of Photography can work magic with ease.
-to pay for basic catering so that our cast and crew have enough food and cold drink to get them through the long hot shoot days (this is mid-Summer in Cairo, remember?!).
-to pay for minimal props, costumes, and makeup that we need to buy
-to pay for location costs, transport, rental of lights, and the various other essential production costs that will help to make this the exceptional film that we know it can be.

MONEY MATTERS
Approx. 7% of money raised here on kickstarter goes to fees for kickstarter and Amazon. And we are donating 5% of all money raised to a fund that will help disadvantaged kids in the Cairo neighborhood where we are shooting. So we would love to exceed our target amount to cover the fees and our donation, leaving us with $10,000 purely for our film budget.
Any excess funds raised will go towards much-needed post-production costs (editing, soundtrack, color correction, subtitles etc.).
