Please help me self-publish my 2015 Celtic Spirit Wall Calendar!
I've been an Indie artist for over 20 years, and I've always wanted to publish a calendar featuring my art. This year I've decided to go for it and I spent the past few months painting, designing and prototyping the calendar you see here.
Design: Each image in this calendar is a high resolution print of an original Celtic inspired image painted by me, artist Brigid Ashwood.
I'm a modern Celtic artist. All of my Celtic knotwork and designs are 100% new and original. I do not use any "clipart" or "public domain" Celtic imagery in my art.
The Calendar is 12 Months and features moon phases, US holidays, and traditional Celtic Holidays.
Each month features a blurb about the art that references traditional Celtic symbolism and mythology.
Size: 12x12 inches (hung on the wall it's 12x24)
Here's an example from June:
Ancient creatures associated with light and color, dragonflies have existed for over 180 million years. Born as water nymphs, they adapt to the realm of air as they mature, and thus share a strong association with both elements. Dragonflies represent the need for balance between our emotional and intellectual natures, and they shine a light of clarity on our worldly illusions. Symbols of change and metamorphosis, dragonflies coast between the worlds with ease, and remind us to approach life with both joy and a lightness of being.
Production: All of the images have already been painted, designed and formatted for the printer. The project is ready to go. I just need your help offsetting the printing costs.
Printing: I've already sourced a printer in the US that has a seven day turn around time. As soon as this project is funded the files will go to the printer. I've indicated a delivery date of November for the rewards, but I anticipate that the calendars will ship well before then.
Shipping: I'm partnering with Fairyglen.com to ship the calendars directly to customers. As a major retail gift site, their staff is very experienced at handling high volume shipping.
Risks and challenges
Potential obstacles include printer problems, personal illness or injury. I have help in place to step in and fulfill the orders should I be physically unable to (I'm healthy, so this seems unlikely, but I do have a backup plan just in case.) If we run into a problem with our printer I'm sure we'll be able to resolve it quickly. We've planned lead time into the project so that we can avoid any such issues.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
