Update: Funded, thanks a bundle to everyone who's pledged and whoever has supported this cause!
£550: Pay the actors. Yes, it's bad; is it slavery? I'm not sure (I'm sorry Equity). But they're not being paid at the moment as the budget is going on costumes, catering and transport.
£700: International Festival Submissions: London Film Awards, Barcelona Film Festival, ITV Fest. They're bloody expensive to enter.
What the hell is it about?!
It's about four post graduates who scared of the real world; they return to squat in the vacant house and live the lives of squatters. The characters are:
- Rob: A Luddite who hasn't interacted with technology (apart from smashing) since the threat of the Y2K bug. He's a feral, loveable man. Ostracized himself from society through fear and loathing.
- Betty: A northern girl an embodiment of "Lad Culture". Her Catholic upbringing has caused her to have a need to nurture people. But her illogical and immoral methods of judgement make her a mess...
- Alan: A hipster who's thinks it's fashionable to live in the squalor. Vapid, empty. Truly wants to be a person of substance, but doesn't know that. Takes everything on its surface value. Doesn't understand irony.
Political man who rarely expresses his views. Gets caught up in situations because of his passive non-confronting demeanor, often making problems worse for himself and others by not speaking up when they get started.
To film the pilot and enter the episode into New York Television Festival. We may also make a series if everything turns out well!
That's all well and good. But who's making this?!
Writers, Creators And Exec Producers, being us (Excuse the weird third person transition): James Newman and Ed Brown have been friends for ages; we are both at the moment students. James Studying in Winchester, and Ed at Bournemouth. We have been writing together since we were 16. We've had our work read by the BBC and Rocilffe at Bafta. We now wanna make one.
This is one of the photo's of the both of us.
Director of Photography: John Marley
John is a DOP from Chippenham currently a Student, studying with James in Winchester.
What is the money going toward?
It's going toward a casting session, transport for actors and buying props. and costumes. Everyone is working for free.
Here's an excerpt from the script.
Risks and challenges
We need to cast which some people might not work for free. We will cater, provide places to stay for the actors for filming.
We may not get into New York TV Fest. which would be sad. But chin up.
Shooting will last a week. If we go over the allotted time, we won't have the actors for that long. So to overcome this we will do lots of pre-production to ensure we have enough days.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
