About this project
A tent for the 21st Century!
"The No Bake Tent looks to be one of the best festival tents ever constructed." - Magnetic Magazine
Don't wake up baking hot in your tent. Sleep in and stay cool. The No Bake Tent uses space age technology to keep you comfortable. We made 14 prototypes to unlock the secrets of a tent that stays cool in direct sunlight. And we didn't stop there - we designed the tent to stand up to strong winds and keep sand and dust where they belong - outside. The tent is designed to seamlessly integrate with today's tech gear - cell phones, solar panels, LED lights, speakers, and power packs. It's tall enough to stand up in, even if you're 6'5"! And of course it comes with 4 beverage holders inside the tent - no more spilled drinks!
How It Works
So that's a pretty infographic, but how well does the tent actually work?
Well, here is real world test data from August 9th, 2016:
It took the No Bake Tent 4 hours longer to heat up to 83ºF than the Name Brand Tent we tested it against! 4 extra hours! By noon it was 32ºF cooler in the No Bake Tent than the regular tent!
The Floor Plan
We have performed field tests in Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California. The No Bake Tent warms up dramatically slower than normal tents. Once it starts to warm up outside the air inside the tent tends to be close to the ambient air temperature. In several of our tests it's been cooler inside the No Bake Tent by noon than it was outside! And our tent doesn't require fans and batteries to achieve this performance.
We know that international shipping is expensive and we'd love to make it cheaper. If you're outside of the USA and the shipping cost is stopping you from supporting our campaign please let us know. If we get several people interested from your country we will try to arrange a group shipment at a much lower rate.
Risks and challenges
Any new product carries some risk. After working through all of our designs we collaborated with a tent design pro who has designed over 200 tents for the biggest brands in the world. Our basic design is very solid.
We are working with factories that need several months to produce our fabric and poles before being able to sew the tents. Sometimes when getting things made internationally delays occur due to shipping, labor, or other issues. We have added in some cushion time to help us make our March, 2017 delivery goal.
I have experience producing products internationally, but every project is different. I have worked with vendors across Asia to produce printed goods and I have experience with the challenges of working across time zones and across cultures. I expect that we will hit a few speed bumps along the way. We expect to make some minor tweaks to the tent as we finalize the design for production. We have left some time in the schedule for the unexpected and we feel confident we can deliver on time.
