About this project
Maker Pipe is a simple, affordable, easy-to use system of connectors that pairs with inexpensive electrical conduit you can find at any hardware store. The result is a building platform with endless possibilities.
Electrical conduit/EMT's traditional use is to run wires through buildings. You can find EMT at any local hardware store and best of all it is super cheap! A 10' length pipe will only cost you around $3.50. Maker Pipe connectors are designed to work with 3/4" EMT, which is good balance between strength and cost. Your builds will hold up and last. EMT is also galvanized so your outdoor builds will keep through the elements. This affordable, readily available, steel pipe makes the perfect building material.
The Maker Pipe is a smart and elegant way to build what you love. Here are some of the reasons why it might be perfect for that really awesome thing you have been wanting to build!
The standard T connector is made out of steel and consists of 2 pieces, a nut, and bolt. There are friction bands on the connectors that help keep your connection in place. If you choose to shrink wrap the pipe for appearance or versatility the bands are not needed. Just slip the bands off the connector and save for another build.
When you are ready to make your connection, take two parts and interlock the puzzle piece shapes on the connectors around the pipe. Then put the nut in place with one hand (the connector holds the nut secure) while you screw the bolt in with the other. Use a 5mm Allen wrench to tighten and you are on your way. You have made a strong steel connection without any power tools or special skills.

Risks and challenges
Maker Pipe has been in the works for 2 years now and we have made many prototypes. We have perfected the design and have even created the prototype metal stamping die for our Standard T Connector. Now we have turned our attention to mass production, allowing us to offer Maker Pipe at a reasonable cost. We have been working with manufactures in the USA and have found excellent sources. It’s time to take production from the garage to the manufacturer.
We have VERY high quality standards and will not move forward with mass production until we are completely satisfied. Please know we have you in mind. We want to ensure the connectors we supply completely live up to the standards we have set and shared with you. We are currently paired with local manufacturers and are very familiar with the manufacturing process. We feel very confident that we will be able to get you a quality product by end of March 2017.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
