UPDATE: Missed us on Kickstarter? No problem! Cinchy will soon be available on our website: carbontactics.com
Thank you to all of our backers that have made this project possible!
Cinchy is designed to hold your pants up, in style.
We hope Cinchy will be the next addition to our Carbon Tactics brand. Cinchy's buckle is 100% aerospace-grade carbon fiber, and the belt strap is made from high quality nylon webbing. The complete lack of metal means you can breeze through airport metal detectors without having to remove your belt.
Cinchy lets you adjust your belt to the optimum snugness, and keeps it there all day. The adjustable "double-back" buckle was inspired by modern rock climbing harnesses. That means it's easy to adjust and won't loosen until you're ready to take it off (video).
Pants are heavy enough. Cinchy is light (~3 ounces light!) thanks to the carbon fiber buckle and durable nylon belt strap. That's about half the weight of a typical leather belt.
Cinchy is a perfect fit to your waist. We will make sure of it, based on the waist measurement that you provide us. We can cut the belt to length and heat-seal the edge, or you can order it extra long and trim it yourself at home.
We created 3 different carbon fiber buckles. The appearance of carbon always changes depending on how the light hits it, but that effect is amplified dramatically with the silver and copper options, which you probably won't find anywhere else.
1. Classic Carbon
2. Limited Edition - Silver
3. Limited Edition - Copper
UPDATE: We just added Grey and Navy Blue for a total of 7 color options for the nylon belt strap.
NEW MODEL: Cinchy Micro
By popular request, we just designed a new smaller version of Cinchy to be used with a black 1" belt strap! Cinchy Micro is great for holding up synthetic pants and shorts, and it's ultralight.
Interchangeable Straps (NEW)
When I designed Cinchy, I wanted to make sure that we could sew straps at the same time we were making carbon fiber buckles, before assembling the two pieces. What does that mean for you? Well, a couple different backers recently brought it to my attention that you could have one buckle and multiple straps.
$10 Add-On Option: You can add $10 to your pledge for every extra strap you would like to receive, in any of the available colors. When we send the surveys out, we will make sure we get everyone's color choices. I suppose you could have a different strap color for every day of the week if you like :) The smaller Cinchy Micro will still only be available with a black strap.
Cinchy is our third project on Kickstarter. First we made Flexy to hold your cash and credit cards. Then we made Switchy to organize your keys, and we delivered a full month ahead of schedule on that project. From manufacturing methods, to quality control and order fulfillment, we hope to continually improve in every area to ensure that the production process goes smoothly.
Cinchy’s carbon fiber parts will be manufactured in Tucson, AZ by the creator's company, Sargent Research, LLC. The company has been serving the aerospace and defense industries since 2010, providing engineering and composites manufacturing services.
We have a vendor in the U.S. lined up to supply the nylon webbing. They produced the prototype nylon straps, and we're very satisfied with the quality.
If we meet our goal, Cinchy will be the next addition to our Carbon Tactics line of products. We want to bring aerospace technology to the people, and we hope Cinchy is one of many great lifestyle products that will accomplish that.
We Need Your Support
Carbon fiber products are expensive. There are a lot of good reasons for that, but we want to make Cinchy accessible to everyone. The only way to bring the cost down is to manufacture parts in large batches, and we hope your support on Kickstarter will enable us to ramp up for our first Cinchy production run.
Risks and challenges
We are very confident in the design, and have tested it thoroughly, but small refinements may still be made.
We have the CNC machining equipment we need in-house. We have painstakingly refined our machining parameters to ensure a consistently high-quality product. If demand is high enough, we can subcontract some machining operations to another local shop to increase our rate of production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
